5.0 out of 5 stars Black Uhuru - Sort of 27 Jun 2006
By Topdog
Apart from Duckie Simpson singing flat in the first song, the vocalists do a great job. This is as close as you're going to get to the classic Uhuru line up as Michael Rose only joined them briefly for a couple of gigs backing Grace Jones a couple of years ago. Robbie Shakespeare (Bass) is on fab form with some memorable licks and stunning rythmn work and Sly Dunbar is still obviously in control, nothing groundbreaking here apart from solid musicianship well crafted. Young pretenders take note, it helps if you can play your instruments.

It's a pity that 'Black Uhuru - Live' was never transferred from VHS, we can but hope.

1.0 out of 5 stars Black Uhuru with Sly & Robbie 17 Feb 2009
I bought this for my husband who is a big fan of both Black Uhuru and Sly & Robbie and its truely awful. Real shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars Black Uhuru live 15 Dec 2009
By Topdog
After seeing them live in a small venue in Edinburgh, this is as close as it gets. Worth it for the improvised bass/drum solo on the last track and the switch to rocking guitar mid song. Classic stuff. Not as good as the London Uhuru gig when Puma was still with us (a true gem)but worth looking into. Be aware, they actually play instruments live so it's not 'electronica' Sly and Robbie. When are we getting the tour with the Channel One allstars and Third World supporting?
