Product Description

As a bodyguard, Bernadette Hogan's is devoted to keeping millionaire Jeremy Bridges safe. But if she has to spend one more evening watching him pick up vacuous blondes for casual flings, she may have to kill him herself. After a particularly infuriating night, Bernie drops her professional veneer and calls Jeremy on his womanizing ways. Unfortunately, she discovers that anger and passion are intimately entangled, and before she knows it, she's succumbed to the sexy millionaire herself. Humiliated by her lack of control, Bernie quits on the spot, only to discover eight weeks later that she's pregnant with their baby. Jeremy is thrilled to discover the hot-blooded woman hiding beneath Bernie's cool control. Even though weeks have passed, he can't stop thinking about her. When he finds out about her pregnancy, he decides to step up. He coaxes her into a reluctant truce, convincing her he's ready to change from partying playboy to dependable dad. But Jeremy has never been a one-woman man. So how can he be falling for this tough, sassy, uncompromising woman who wants nothing less than his heart forever?

Nice Chicklit/Romance 30 Jun 2011
By Julie Brazeal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Why I read this book: I was in the mood for a light contemporary romance.

What I liked: It was a light read, I didn't have to over think or become so wrapped up in angst I needed a massage to loosen the knots in my shoulders after reading. The plot fits the formula for a chicklit and happy ending.

What I didn't like: The female main character is a bad-ass body guard who is suppose to be able to kill a person six ways to Sunday. However, we don't get to see that side of her because she's pregnant through the majority of the book. I think the character could have easily had another occupation, like secretary, and had the same personality and background baggage she comes with. I also don't understand why a lot of male main characters are so promiscuouss and the females seem to be semi-virginal, but that's what you get here too.

Overall: This contemporary romance was a nice chicklit/romance. The characters were likable, the story moved along at a nice pace, and the tension between the two main characters was the right amount to make you think they had enough chemistry to be a great couple. I'd recommend it to chicklit/romance fans.

Fun, but not as good as earlier ones 12 July 2011
By Book lover -Philadelphia - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I'm a fan of Jane Graves and was hooked by her series on the policemen brothers (WILD AT HEART, et al). I've also read the other rhyming titles in this series and, in fact, had just reread one and enjoyed it a second time. (the trophy wife and the repossessor) Unfortunately, it felt as if she phoned this one in. It was obvious from the beginning that Jeremy and Bernadette would be a couple and that he would change his ways; this resulted in a total lack of suspense. And the constant examination and re-examination by the hero and heroine seemed to be there just to make the book longer.

Frankly, this is the first book by Graves that I found to be entirely missable.

p.s. The portions of the book describing the supposed lifestyle of the rich and famous were dry and unpersuasive.

Witty and fun! 11 July 2011

I almost passed on this one because the reviews seemed less than enthusiastic. I'm very glad I changed my mind! This book had all the humor and laugh out loud moments that I've come to expect from Jane Graves. I don't hesitate to give it a five stars, and I can't wait for the next one!
