Firstly, I would like to say that I ordered a black stand and was given a white one by accident, but it doesn't matter. It still looks good either way.
Anyway, to business.
This iPad stand, I think, is better than the official stand from Apple. As clearly shown in the photos it is far bigger than the stand Apple sells. However this is not a bad thing. The iPad feels more sturdy and better supported in this stand so you can feel safe knowing your £500+ investment isn't going to topple over! The back of the stand is thicker and taller compared to Apple's offering. The back of the stand extends backwards by a considerable margin compared to the official Apple stand as well. You can jab it with your finger to your hearts content and it wont wobble unnervingly like with the official stand, it really is well supported!
The base of the stand is essentially one giant rubber foot. It never slides around when in use and you have to give it a fair amount of nudging for it to budge. Very good when on glass surfaces, stops it from scratching as well.
There is but ONE flaw with this product.
When the iPad is docked, no audio can be heard through its internal speaker. This is a problem if you want to listen to say, the WunderRadio or iPod apps whilst you work (which is what I wanted when I was typing in pages earlier), then tough luck. No audio from its internal speaker at all. Zip! However, the upside to it is that you can still use the headphone jack on the top of the iPad (which is what the wire wrapper fish is for to stop the wire from getting in the way) and it comes with an audio out port on the back for use with a set of speakers or for connecting to your amplifier Hi-Fi. I would recommend plugging headphones into the back though, no volume control and you might end up just a little bit deaf! haha!
I'm highly satisfied with this product, enough to give it four stars and recommend it to any iPad owner. It would have been five starts if it allowed the internal speaker to opeprate, but for £15 LESS than the official Apple iPad dock its hard to not smile at the bargain right here.
