Once again Michele Giuttari has delivered the goods in his fifth Ferrara novel. I really enjoyed it. He captures the atmosphere of the place as far as I am concerned. A strong storyline kept me gripped with it's references to black magic and freemasonry symbolism. Ferrara is an Italian police officer with whom I can identify. In some ways lighter than the Scandinavian novels of Mankell, Nesbo and others it still can be quite brutal in places, but the characters and landscape are less oppressive. Giuttari, alongside Donna Leon and Camilleri give me great pleasure to read
