Special operations contractors, backed by Saudi petrodollars, wage a war of ruthless intrigue and clandestine violence against Iranian proxies and agents in the post-Iraq state, Basran. 5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic end to the story 12 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I had been waiting for this book for what seemed like an eternity.

I can say it was well worth it.

This book is an explosive ending to the story arc, with a nice little twist.

Artwork and colour was amazing as ever, especially with the combat scenes. Bloody, brutal and nothing short of breathtaking.

In summary, I would say go and buy the whole series, I got them in print and on Kindle so I can take the digital copies anywhere.

You will not regret it if you are even remotely a fan of the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Going Hot 23 Oct 2012

This installment of Black Powder Red Earth will only make sense if you read the previous ones. It is like a real comic book in that way, the story is continuous, fast paced, and does not stop. The actions of the previous editions all led up to this moment, the Cold Harbor PMC going kinetic on its designated enemies in the fictional state of Basran.

As before, the writing continues to be outstanding, but not in the way one would normally expect from a book. Writing here refers to the way the story is structured, not only from a pacing point of view, but also how it is arranged on paper (ipad screen in my case) through the use of the tiles. The artwork is outstanding, and creates the fluid situation that is described visually.

Outstanding job by Jon Chang and Kane Smith.

Outstanding over all, artwork is beautiful and the plot is simple and direct. I have loved the entire series so far and can't wait to see what else is in store in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, Must Read 5 Oct 2012

I'll leave this short. This book is their strongest yet in the Black Powder \\ Red Earth series. The artwork is powerful by itself; but becomes explosive when dialog is added.

The illustrations in this volume have a lot more visual and emotional impact. They're stronger, and intense. I don't want to spoil it, but they added elements to the pages that made me say, "holy sh**". The good guys in the series have that character and grit you want to see in a professional warrior.

This is the finest volume out of the series. The artwork is stronger with a lot more emotion to it. The dialog and story line has improved since V3.

Congratulations to the BPRE Team, Jon Chang, Kane Smith and Josh Taylor! You knocked it out of the ball park!

Put me down for a coffee table version of V1-V4.
