These are excellent for the money, comfortable, the sizing is right, they're warm, waterproof, and do have a solid heel, toe and shin protection, which is more than you could ask for at this price. They do not provide a completely rigid ankle, which is important to stop your ankle rolling over if you have an accident at high speed as your foot may get twisted, trapped etc. However you'd normally only expect this from boots that cost well over £150. The ankle in these cheaper boots is at least partially rigid from all of the thick material, so would provde some resitance to the ankle rolling.

If I were riding into the city and on motorways daily, I would want my feet and ankles to be totally guarded, and therefore swallow the bill and pay £250 for a pair of Sidis etc. Nonetheless, for the 5 mile commute that I do and the odd ride into London, it's hard to look past these for £50.

I'm some new to riding (3.5 months, 7,000 miles) and hence all my protective clothing is rather cheap entry level stuff as it's the first gear I'm buying and expensive doesn't always mean excellent.

So I've had the boots for about a month and a half now and have done about 3,000 miles in them through very different conditions from pouring rain, freezing cold morning rides and baking sunshine. All in all I am pleased as they fit perfectly from the first moment of wearing them. Where they have let me down is in wet conditions - they deal well with short showers but get soaked if the rain is of any duration over 15 minutes. However for the price I can't fault them and it's not a problem to buy some waterproof overboots that solve the water issue.

>>> Newbie tip: 2x times cheap waterproof = really waterproof

I have applied that to my "waterproof" gloves, textile jacket and trousers to which I have added another waterproof, high-vis layer (think waterproof cycling jacket) that packs away in the top-box and have a bone-dry set for less than £250. <<<

4 Stars for the boots for their superb comfort, value for money and they do actually look very nice too.

I normally have to wear a new pair of boots for about a week about the house before I would spend long on the bike with them, as they tend to be a bit tight.

These babies fitted like a glove straight out of the box :)
They are really well made, look great and have plenty of protection.
Excellent biker boot, especially for the price!

I can't recommend these boots highly enough! They fit superbly, are extremely comfortable, are well made and they look good. I have had mine for over a month and use them nearly every day. So far I have found them durable and there is no hint of wear. At this price I don't think you can buy better!

Having paid much much more for boots in the past, I am delighted with the boots from Black/Ghostbikes. Supremely comfortable out-of-the-box. And have remained dry ... so far (realistically - only truly dry boots are going to be GoreTex at over £200. During a recent wet 4-day ride through the Highlands, these boots performed faultlessly.

The money (or even for double!), you couldn't do much better that these boots. Excellent fit, quality & value.

Easily 5 Stars :-)

Boots are of good quality but are really a summer boot as quite cold... not all leather. Waterproof... yes over 2 hrs of motorway in drenching rain and still dry. Tad short on sizing I am 9 so ordered a 10 as like to have two pairs of socks in winter... a snug fit with just one... be warned!

Comfortable from day 1 - they actually feel more like trainers than boots.

Good and sturdy, the few downpours I have ridden through they have proved to be completely waterproof - and they look great too!
