5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Cultivation 29 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
An organic ambient experience. For the first half of the CD Fila Brazillia manage to place jazzy, soul-styled and classical musical fragments layered over chilled beats to create an effortless sound. Then the processes, from "Butter My Mask" and "Wigs, Bifocals And Nourishment" are reversed as the CD veers towards a more techno-sounding landscape no-less captivating than the CD's first half. Definitely floaty-light music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fizzy ticking master piece.. 10 April 2000
Format:Audio CD
This lazed back jazz-a-thon is a venture into the velvet-smooth...A really chilled collection of mixed tempo tracks from Fila, purrrrfect for a warm summer's eve by the pool, campari and soda in hand.. Fav track...number two: Snake Ranger

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for "any" venue 13 Jun 2001
By Mr. B - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album cuts through every element of what we constantly hear music today being termed as either Funktronic, Electronica, Acid Jazz, Future Jazz, Core-Lounge, Acid Lounge, Ambient Groove, etc. The best way to describe this band? Imagine Steely Dan, Curtis Mayfield, Shuggy Otis, and George Clinton, abducted and transplanted into the land of H.R. Puff'nStuff, and forced to perform concerts with transbiomorphic equipment only available in that warped fairy tale of a place.
This music is great for parties, lovemaking, babysitting, studying, driving and dining. After playing Fila's music in many of my DJ sets at parties and social gatherings the consistent reaction is a flutter of turning heads and the question, "Who is This"? Enough said...
If you like musical artists who create their own sound aesthetics based on their own creativity, you will love Fila Brazillia, and you love Black Market Gardening. However, if you're limited to musical genres from Biteme Rears, Blistine Coagulaira, and InShrnC I suggest you hunt elswhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jazzy, Yet Eclectic 14 Mar 2000
By Dock Drumming - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Walking into an underground record store in the East Village (NYC) and hearing "The Big Dipper" on Fila Brazillia's Black Market Gardening CD, instantly made me a fan of their music. While I don't consider Fila Brazillia's music to be limited to Acid Jazz, all of the tracks on this CD have a jazzy, yet eclectic sound that is almost indescribable. "The Big Dipper" has got to be one of the best Acid Jazz tracks that I have ever heard. I purchased the Black Market Gardening CD in 1997 - a time when Fila Brazillia wasn't as "mainstream", since then, I have bought a few more of their CDs, but in my opinion this CD is one of their best works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to Fila Brzillia 8 Feb 2001
By "shinst2" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I just recently discovered Fila Brazillia, and I was pleasantly surprised. After hearing a track from Om Lounge 2 I went searching for more of their music. Unfortunately, their albums are VERY hard to find. It took me about a week to find any Fila records, and this was the only one the record shop had. This is a great album. It is very mellow and atmospheric. It's hard to belive that Fila Brazillia is not a household name like K&D or Theivery Corporation. The songs flow so smoothly you'll never know when one song ends and another begins. If you are into stoney chill music, get this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trip Hop Lounge 2 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
You are transported to a smoky, dimly lit lounge with full sofas, a modern cosmopolitan society and filled with streaks of red lighting, while listening to Filla Brazillia. This is chill out music at it's best--a definite must on any lounge/club's CD rack. "Blubber Plynth" is absolutely brilliant, for it transports me to quite another place when listening to it--even sober!! The mixing, looping, and re-working of standard tunes is immensely well done here. This CD is quite an ear full of tones. Make sure you are very relaxed when listening to it. It will put you in that very mood!!

4.0 out of 5 stars everything changes 3 April 2007
By lokey - Published on Amazon.com

All music good yet experimental. Each new listen yields a new opinion. If you listen to any of their other albums, all are interesting new candy. It's Brian Eno meets Miles Davis.
