Former Wildheart Ginger has exceeded all previous expectations with his new project Silver Ginger 5. Bringing together the uplifting rock melodies of the Wildhearts, the glam of Slade and Sweet, then heating and stirring in some sort of big rock and roll saucepan, adding dashes of beauty, distortion and a wonderful rythmn section. Black Leather Mojo should be on the top of any self respectiong rock fans wish list. We're greeted on the journey by the first song, Sonic Shake, a tune that'll grab you by the nuts, and invite you sit up, take notice and pour a beer down your throat. A sound so rock and so right, it'll blow you away. How they manage to keep this amazing standard up throughout is beyond me. The glam rock of Girls are Better than Boys, transports you from the modern day, back to the 70's with exploding geetars and platform shoes. Every single tune, riff, melody (yes rock fans melodies...) drips with rock and roll attitude. The highlights. An awesome Anyway, but Maybe, which opens upo with a barrage of noise, an almost robot like riff, and a mechanical drum sound, before unfolding into one of Gingers best songs. Connie Bloom, guitarist chugs away on those six strings, it sound so good, to be heavy and beautiful at the same time. The Church of the Brokenhearted, don't be put of by the fact it's a (say it in hushed tones) a balad, it's a tune that shows why SG5 are going to be better than the Wildhearts. The soaring chorus, beautifully writen lyrics, and damn fine tune, just makes you want to slap it on repeat. In fac... glue those whole CD on your player... You won't wanna take it off... The Wildhearts are dead. Long live Silver Ginger 5!!!
