I'm more than a little amazed that more UK readers haven't discovered Ms Jenkins books. She's not only a great author but her work really stands out amongst other romance authors.
Lacy Green is an environmentalist, whose car is totalled one morning during a snow storm. The mayor's driver is responsible for the accident, and the Mayor himself is more than challenged when Lacy is not falling or fawning over him, like most of the women he meets. Mayor Drake Randolph, dubbed 'His Fineness' by the city's women who voted him one of the country's most eligible and just plain gorgeous batchelors, is intrigued and challenged by the lovely Lacy Green. He takes her to the hospital and asks her out' only to be turned down.
A really creepy and dangerous villan enters the picture when Lacy's office trys to track down the company dumping toxic waste amongst Detroits poorest neighbourhoods. This is a big story which Ms Jenkins manages to weave into 370+ pages. A toe curling romance with Ms Jenkins trademark humour and action.
