They were just what I needed for Tai Chi; nice firm sole, comfortable fit, and great for working outside on grass.

Product Description

Classic black kung fu shoe from Feiyue China and Yellow Mountain Martial Arts. These are the original style, favoured by martial artists for decades. The sole is padded but thin, so you can feel the ground under your feet. The canvas upper allows the foot to make a full range of motions. Ideal for kung fu, these shoes are also worn by practitioners of tai chi, parkour, kickboxing, barefoot running, and many others. With black canvas, white logo and white and red chevrons on the side, they also look great as casual or leisure wear. Sizing Information There is a link above to sizing charts. This link and charts within it are provided by Amazon and are not correct (as no conversion guide will cover all brands of shoe). We strongly suggest NOT using these charts to convert to/from EU/UK sizes. The vast majority of our customers find that buying their normal European size provides a great fit. If you would normally buy a half size we suggest rounding up to the next full size. If you don't know your EU size you can contact us directly or simply look in a pair of trainers/sneakers you already own as a guide. In the unlikely event you have sizing issues we offer exchanges for up to 3 months after purchase.

A great pair of shoes, with a comfortable minimalist sole.

I bought these shoes as a much cheaper alternative to Vibram Five Fingers, which means that I was looking for a minimalist sole and very light weight as well as comfort and grip, all of which I found in the Feiyue. I was also pleased with the space in the toe box of the shoe for my feet to spread and move, which is great during running.

I was very pleasantly surprised that, after overcoming the slight curvature of the sole, the shoe fit well, was comfortable and very flexible and had fantastic grip. I've used it as my everyday shoe for about 3 months now and I've never had any problems, either in the office, running or even doing a bit of parkour.

A highly recommended shoe.

I'd previously tried the usual kung fu slippers for my training but their soles are too slippery to maintain a strong contact with the floor. In need of a good, grippy sole I resorted to the 'normal' trainers with the thinnest soles I could find but without spending ridiculous sums it was hard to find anything that didn't feel overly cushioned.

Also, having read various articles explaining the harmful potential of cushioned soles, I wanted something as close to barefoot as possible without actually having to worry about cold, dirt, etc. Cushioned soles desensitise the feet which means the brain doesn't get enough information to properly activate the shock-absorbing qualities of the muscles in the legs/back, which then increases the force (and therefore the potential damage casued by) of each foot-hits-floor impact. For internal martial arts that's not such a problem (the articles were aimed at runners) but excessive sole cushioning does make it much harder to feel the absorbance/generation of pressure during the movements/postures. Also, the muscles of the foot (especially the arch) need to be worked properly to maintain foot strength & integrity.

When I first put these on I'd just got home and removed my usual trainers so the feiyues felt thin, hard and cold in comparison. After an hour of wearing them around the house I'd forgotten I was wearing them - the sign of a good shoe. I've since worn them for all of my solo practice and for each of the regular 2.5-hour Taiji classes I attend. My feet still ache a little during the longer training sessions but that lessens each week so obviously they're strengthening up.

A great value little shoe for free running/parkour. A nice thin, flat sole with great grip and very light weight.

Bought these shoes for my husband for Tai Chi. He found them so comfortable that he wanted to wear them all the time (although he obviously didn't!) Very flexible and lightweight. They look good too.

I'm currently learning tricking, which is basically like martial arts kicks, with flips and twists added to it. These provide good grip for it and are very durable too. They are also very flexible and have light cushioning and almost no support, so if you participate in high impact sports, you must be using good technique otherwise it will be detromental for your ankles/knees. So yeah good shoes in general

These arrived on time and were exactly as described.

They fit perfectly - people moaning and griping about the shoe doesn't fit - shut up. It's your fault for not looking into sizes properly. The information is out there, and is a google away.

Amazing shoe for an amazing price.

I was put on to these shoes from the "Cool Tools" website which recommended them as a cheaper alternative to the Vibram five fingers 'barefoot' shoes. However I immediately saw they would be a vast improvement to my previous Tai Chi footwear of Converse All-Stars. The shoes have a decent thickness rubber sole which still lets you feel the floor. The fabric around is thin allowing the full flexibility you need for martial arts. The shoes are at a very reasonable price. For Tai Chi, I expect them to last years! For anything with more contact maybe not so long, but I would certainly recommend them for anyone wanting a practical shoe for anything that needs good contact with the floor!
