Black Jack himself is "A Surgeon With The Hands Of God" with the ability to perform proceedures far surpassing that of any other. His companion, the forward, funny and at times annoying but never unnecessary, Pinoko fills in most aspects of a family for Jack. She's like his mother, his daughter, his best friend and his housekeeper all rolled into one small girl. I seriously suggest you buy this book of you're into the more emotional side of manga, the plot is easy to follow, the characters are easy to love and the events are easy to believe. The whole series consist of twenty-two paperback volumes of short stories. The main character, BJ, is a genius surgeon who practices without a license. Although BJ is an outcast, many people rich and famous are willing to pay top money for his service. Through out the people and events that BJ encountered, Tezuka questions the value of Doctors in the medical systems, the meaning of a qualitative life, and the price of health. Tezuka Osamu was also a student of medical doctor, and he also obtained Medical Doctors degree in Japan. In his life he wrote more than 400 books of manga as many as 150,000 pages or more than that as well as directed many animations.
