The Flashlight Seasons album was definitely one of the best of the year. This EP/mini-album is something of a diversion from that. The main reason for buying it is the cover version of Husker Du's 'Diane' which in fact surpasses anything on the Flashlight Seasons album. The rest of it I could take or leave. Here Nick Talbot tries to do something different, by giving more fully fleshed arrangements and having long instrumental sections. Personally I don't think it works to any great effect, but others may disagree. The most successful pieces are the pared down acoustic offerings. Those who already own Flashlight Seasons should probably buy this. Those who haven't, should buy the album instead.
