Back in late 1990, the four-piece rock outfit ‘Channel Zero’ were formed for the first time in Brussels. Taking inspiration for the band name from the ‘Public Enemy’ song “She Watch Channel Zero,” the group's early work resulted in a record deal with the German label, Shark Records. Their subsequent self-titled debut album was later released in early 1992, forming a solid and ever-growing fanbase for the band. The next year saw the release of the band’s follow-up album ‘Stigmatized’. The album unleashed a massive explosion of live shows for the group including slots with Biohazard, Obituary, Napalm Death, Life Of Agony, Pro-pain, along with support slots with both Exhorder and M.O.D. in Europe. Next came the sharper and more focused-sounding album ‘Unsafe’ in 1994. Armed with their new album, the band took to even more live shows alongside the likes of Megadeth, Danzig, Spudmonsters and Biohazard along with many European festivals. By now the band were really making a name for themselves with the rock community. Then in 1996 the band released their awesome metal album ‘Black Fuel’. A flood of live shows followed including a complete European tour with the band ‘Bodycount’.

The album sets off with the monsterous track “Black Fuel” that delivers a wall of thick and heavy guitars creating the fan favourite track that it is. Xavier Carion’s guitar work is superb, showing his technical ability along with his inspirational and creative song writing skills.

Franky’s vocals are truly awesome, bringing out the power and aggression of his haunting voice. The album reached a higher level of songwriting with the album with a much more hard-hitting and aggressive offering than with past releases. An introspective, innovative evolution in Channel Zero’s recording history. With a further depth to the group’s sound coming out within all twelve tracks, it’s not surprising that this album is often thought of as the band's masterpiece.

Following on from the release, in the end of August 1997 the band decided to split with the final release of a live album for fans to remember the band by.
