Great sound quality,

Great audiophile disc, not sure what the negative review on sound quality was about. Its not compressed at all and very 'open' sounding via my raysonic cd228 and valve amplifier with audeze lcd3.Great songs, captures the spirit of a real band completely loving the music they are makimg. Great soaring background imagery too throughout.

Black Dub,

I was recommended this album by a total audiophile after listening it on his £200,000 Hi Fi. It sounded great at the time!Every track is diverse and the band are talented musicians. The good side to them is that they are into playing live music and not relying on pseudo studio tricks like multi-tracking takes and overdubs. This is real music. Not fabricated and processed Pro-Tools computer stuff. The down side is that much of the recording quality is like a 70/80's bootleg. Maybe there was not much of a budget. Considering they are under Sony and I paid full price for a CD I would of thought that a high quality live recording would have been possible. Maybe people will enjoy a retro finish to a retro style of music.

Tell it like it is...,
This review is from: Black Dub (Audio CD)
Well, I figure there's no point in a review unless it's honest. Obviously it's only my opinion, but I hope it helps both potential buyers and 'Black Dub' if they read their reviews...This had the potential of being a truely brilliant album; creative, original & inspired. However, it is sadly ruined by over-pollished bland studio production. As a result it is nothing more than mediocre and because there is so much totally brilliant music in the world, why listen to stuff that falls short? If you love this band, as I do, I'd recommend sticking to the raw, edgy and absolutely superb stuff freely available on uTube until they sack the engineer/producer & capture that awesome passion on disk. Please let the next release feature 'Black Dub' at the controls, because this band deserve to succeed.
