The Black & Decker PV1825N is a 18 volt Pivot Nose Dustbuster. It is an updated version of the PV1805 with many improved features. The PV1825N is Black & Decker's most powerful and highest performing Dustbuster. It is 10% smaller than the previous model, yet the dirt bowl is 40% bigger. So it is lighter and more comfortable to hold, while providing you with greater performance. It is also much quieter than the original Dustbuster Pivot so you won't disturb the entire house when tidying. The new Dustbuster has a patented 'motor in filter' design which has lead to the reduced size and weight. The bulky rear of the unit is no more with the motor contained within the filter in the dust bowl.
The Patented Nozzle design pivots 200 degrees and locks into 8 different angled settings providing you with the maximum flexibility and ease of use. The pivoting nose will allow greater reach to hard to reach shelves or allow you to access further under the sofa to collect all the dirt. It also allows you to balance the the unit in a way that suits you. For those really hard to reach spots you could use the crevice pull out which extends from the main nose and will get into tighter spots with ease. When you are cleaning on a delicate surface you can flip up the soft brush which is attached to the underside of the nose. This will prevent any scratching of the surface.
This Dustbuster has a cyclonic action which causes the dust and dirt to spin away from the filter, rather than getting sucked into it such as with other handheld vacuums. This means the Dustbuster maintains its high level suction for longer, rather than losing power. It also makes the filter easier to clean. The filter can be lifted easily out of the dirt bowl and shaken out or washed and left to dry. This will greatly improve the life span of the product. The translucent bowl makes it clear when you need to empty it out. Emptying couldn't be more simple. Just click open the door to the dirt bowl and empty the contents into the bin. The dirt bowl can even be completely removed so that too can be sufficiently cleaned.
When charging the unit folds in half and stands up right on the charging base. A blue light will appear on the unit so you know it's charging. Its impressive design will make it a product you are proud to have on display in your house.

I compared the 18v and 12v of this cleaner in a leading electrical store - the 18v is a completely different beast to the 12v. It's like comparing your dyson to those horrible dustbusters of old that didn't really pick up.
I did notice the problem that Which Magazine and several reviewers on here noted - the flap that was supposed to stop the dirt you've picked up from falling out of the cylinder and back down the spout is too weakly sprung - but I thought I could live with that given its immense suction power.
However, I can confirm that the model Amazon sent me a couple of weeks ago has had the offending flap design modified by B&D (as B&D told Which Magazine they would do and it works perfectly.
Highly recommended.

I've previously owned two dustbusters over the years and they've been OK for picking up dust, but not much else. However, this model is in a completely different league! Forget dust... this is a real dirtbuster! It has fast become the most useful gadget in my home. In the kitchen it's great for getting rid of all those seeds that go every everywhere when you buy a new loaf of bread. In the bathroom it make's short work of the dust, fluff and hair that accumulates whenever your back is turned. It happily copes with stairs and saves having to lug a full-sized vacuum cleaner up and down. And the pivot head will get into just about any nook or cranny that you have. Suffice to say I use mine several times a day. Can't recommend it highly enough.
