The Black & Decker Steam Mop is a new and innovative product that makes mopping your floors easier, faster and cleaner. The days of filling a bucket with hot water and floor cleaning chemicals will be behind you once you start using the Steam Mop. It's simplicity is what makes it so effective. You just fill up the 500 ml water tank; turn on the Mop; wait for no more than 15 seconds until the red light in the water tank turns to blue; now you're ready to go.
There is no need for chemicals. The steam kills 99.99% of bacteria and germs making your floors safe for any children that may be crawling around your house. The Steam Mop is also environmentally friendly as you will no longer be pouring chemicals down your sink.
The Autoselect dial will adjust the amount of steam released depending on the surface you are cleaning. Turn the dial to select either stone/marble, tiles/vinyl or wood/laminate and the Steam Mop will adjust the amount of steam it releases. This will protect your flooring and also allow the surface to dry in a matter of seconds. So there will be no more long waits for your floor to dry.
The cleaning pad that comes with the Steam Mop is removable and washable so when you're finished you can put it in the washing machine before your next use. The pads will continue to be effective for up to 100 washes. The easyglide microfibers make sure the pad glides smoothly across your floor at all times. The Steam Mop is not only usable on hard flooring, but carpets also. In the box there is a carpet gliders which slots effortlessly over the cleaning pad. With this on you can glide over the carpet, removing odours and providing a general freshness.
The Mop also has a stand alone feature where it will stand upright unsupported. This stops the steam being released and is also a handy way to store it. The handle also has a wall mountable slot for even greater space savings. The head on the Steam Mop is a fully swiveling head.

I have bought and returned 3 steam mops before I purchased this one. This mop does all you need it to do and it does this with steam, not water, like many others. Dries in seconds. WONDERFUL PRODUCT!

As a first time user of a steam mop, I must say that I am duly impressed. Having read many reviews on various makes, I chose the Black & Decker FSM 1600. The unit was easily and rapidly assembled having first read the graphic instructions, in less than 3 minutes. Filling water tank was easy, and mop was ready for use within 10 seconds from switch-on and steam could be seen emitting from pad. The mop pads stayed in position during use and absorbed dirt and dust with little effort. The unit is light and glides with ease on tiles (not tried on carpet). Drying time of mopped tiles was a couple of minutes or so. A couple of tips to improve effectiveness of mop are (i) Moisten pad with fine water spray before use. (ii) Do not over-fill water tank or excessive water will over wet mop pad leaving droplets on floor rather than quick drying steam. Only negative for me was that the power cable was too short to cover my kitchen area from one power socket, but should be OK for an average size kitchen/room. Otherwise would have allotted 5 Stars. Would and have recommended to friends. Only time will tell it's robustness !!

Totally Fabulous!
Mopping all my floors is now easy! I have real wood flooring all through downstairs and this steam mop on the wood/laminate setting hardly gets floors wet. Read more

Great but leaves streaky marks in tiles
I live in Spain so all my floors are tiles. I used to use a mop but had to buffer the tiles afterwards as it would leave streaky marks. Read more
