The Black & Decker Steam Mop is a new and innovative product that makes mopping your floors easier, faster and cleaner. The days of filling a bucket with hot water and floor cleaning chemicals will be behind you once you start using the Steam Mop. It's simplicity is what makes it so effective. You just fill up the 500 ml water tank; turn on the Mop; wait for no more than 15 seconds until the red light in the water tank turns to blue; now you're ready to go.
There is no need for chemicals. The steam kills 99.99% of bacteria and germs making your floors safe for any children that may be crawling around your house. The Steam Mop is also environmentally friendly as you will no longer be pouring chemicals down your sink.
The Autoselect dial will adjust the amount of steam released depending on the surface you are cleaning. Turn the dial to select either stone/marble, tiles/vinyl or wood/laminate and the Steam Mop will adjust the amount of steam it releases. This will protect your flooring and also allow the surface to dry in a matter of seconds. So there will be no more long waits for your floor to dry.
The cleaning pad that comes with the Steam Mop is removable and washable so when you're finished you can put it in the washing machine before your next use. The pads will continue to be effective for up to 100 washes. The easyglide microfibers make sure the pad glides smoothly across your floor at all times. The Steam Mop is not only usable on hard flooring, but carpets also. In the box there is a carpet gliders which slots effortlessly over the cleaning pad. With this on you can glide over the carpet, removing odours and providing a general freshness.
The Mop also has a stand alone feature where it will stand upright unsupported. This stops the steam being released and is also a handy way to store it. The handle also has a wall mountable slot for even greater space savings. The head on the Steam Mop is a fully swiveling head allowing you to get the head into tight spaces or under low tables and chairs. The square finish to the head means you can get to those hard to reach corners with ease.

Ive got to admit I never look forward to mopping my floors but with 2 small children and 2 cats its essential to keep things clean and safe...but I can see them getting done a lot more frequently now!
The mop is very easy to put together and looks great. Once I'd filled it up and put the lid on properly I was away and steaming. It was ready to use really quickly with a lovely blue light in the tank. Its so much easier than i expected and a lot less hassle and mess than the mop and bucket I bought at B&Q. I used it on my stone floor and on my oaks floors and both came up lovely. I was a little bit worried about the wood floor, but the booklet said it was fine. In fact there is an easy to follow dial on the front which you adjust to tell it what you are mopping. I was expecting to have to fill it up a few times, but I did all of the downstairs in one go....and I wont ever loose the filling jug coz it clips to the stem. How clever is that ?!?! Finally, theyve even thought to put a tag on the pad which you can stand on to take it off, so you dont have to touch the dirty part when you pop it in the washing machine. Overall I'm very happy with this and bet it wont be long before one of my friends wants to borrow it. I might have to think about a rental fee. Hehe

On first impressions, this is very good. It's the first steam mop i've used and was surprised by how easy it was to use, and very fast and easy to assemble.
Just fill it with water, wait for the light to change colour, about 10 seconds! and away you go.
It could do with being supplied with 2 mop pads especially as for the first few uses or if not used on a very regular basis, the floor is surprisingly dirty and the mop is pretty dirty after just a short time of use.
Love it, just hope it is reliable after regular use - time will tell.

Few niggles are that the handle design could do with being a bit chunkier in your hand as this would help with changing direction more smoothly and would be a little more comfortable in the hand after a few minutes.

Only the outsides of the pad are truly effective at cleaning as the middle (where the steam vents are) does not really seem to make contact with the floor.
Fix these niggles, and it's definately a 5* rating, until then I think 4* if fair.

I get really bored mopping the floors with the traditional mop and bucket. I also hate lugging the heavy full bucket up the stairs with the water sloshing everywhere. Plus I'm always concerned that the detergents I'm using aren't ridding the floor of germs. I have two small boys so the steam mop seemed like a pretty good investment and I was right. I've been using it for a little over a week and it really is great.
It's slim and easy to put together/ take apart so you can store it pretty easily. Heats up really quickly (15 seconds). Has a long lead, very handy and the jug clips to the neck of the handle so you won't lose it. Because it's steam, the floor dries really quickly so you can walk almost immediately on the area you've just mopped. I wondered if it was really working the first time I used it but the pad was absolutely black when I turned it off, so that proved it is! My bathroom floor which is an odd non-slip, vinyl flooring which came up gleaming, much better than the traditional mop and bucket ever did. I find it's embossed flooring where the steam mop really impresses. Normally I'd have to get down and scrub to get between all the tiny indents but the steam gets it all out with 100 times less effort.
Overall, great product.
