As an amateur joiner/handy person it was a perfect choice for me! Nice and easy operation, perfect for small jobs, gives professional finish on edges when operated properly!
All that for a very reasonable price. Perfect for cutting timber and costs as well! ;]

I ordered this Saw before undertaking some major DIY building a cabinet in our family living room to accommodate a newly purchased Home Cinema System, as well as a few other outstanding jobs that needed doing; I am well aware of the old adage that says "a bad workman always blames his tools" but trust me, my Dad's old (and I mean really old - its older than me) Black & Decker Jigsaw simply wasn't going to be up for the job...
Knowing roughly the sort of thing that I was after, I looked on Amazon for something suitable. I looked at all of the options from a whole range of manufacturers - Bosch, Draper, GMC etc. - and this saw was the most reasonably priced for its spec; it wasn't the cheapest, most expensive, or the most powerful, but I thought that 1100W would be ample for the job I had at hand and that the 55mm cut depth would also be enough. I also thought I'd show some sort of brand loyalty and stick to Black & Decker since the Jigsaw I was replacing had always managed fine for the little jobs around the house, and it had had a pretty impressive innings! (If this saw lasts half as long I'll definitely have got my money's worth...) Anyhow, the product arrived the next day, and I immediately got to work; with regard to the single, 1 star review, I think the guy must have had it plugged into a shaver socket, because it made absolute mincemeat of the hardwood that I was cutting, cutting a couple of metres of 20mm wood in a matter of seconds, and yet with an incredibly smooth, neat cut that barely warranted any sanding. Moreover, the parallel cutting guide supplied is brilliant - simple but effective - and makes getting that perfect cut so easy you could do it with your eyes shut (though trying that probably isn't a very good idea...). Conversely, as is said in the other 4 star review, the saw is very heavy - I don't think you could use it for any extended period of time - and the hand grips aren't brilliant, but even as a lefty I managed fine, using the dust extraction outlet as an auxiliary handle. All in all, this is a brilliant Saw, for just about any round-the-house, DIY sort of job you can throw at it; it has already served me well in several other jobs including replacing the floorboards on our landing, and I have every faith that it will serve me well in many jobs in the future. A very reliable, accurate, and easy-to-use Saw - no tool for the master craftsman - but definitely more than capable of any domestic DIY job you have in mind; I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending it.

I bought the circular saw to cut some doors down to size, it cut through them easily and left a very neat cut. This is a good product and well worth the money
