Typical DIY tool,
This review is from: Black & Decker CD18CA Drill Driver 18V (Kitchen & Home)
I bought one of these as it was cheaper than a new battery for my DeWalt and the battery will power the DeWalt.
I found that this one was pretty run of the mill, I have a 14.4 Bosch Professional that cost the same and is much more capable. The black and decker is fine for drilling holes in timber, or driving small diamiter screws but does not have enough speed for drilling metal and is totally not suitable for brick or any masonary as it is not a hammer drill. In my experience, when it comes to cordless drills, it is better to have a lower voltage professional tool than a high voltage DIY one, and you dont need to spend a fortune either, If you shop around you should be able to get a Professional Bosch (they have a Blue casing not green) or a small Makita for around the same price and find that you can do so much more with them and generally the batteries will last longer and charge faster. I alo agree that Cheap drill bits are a false economy and can make a lot of difference I can reccomend the Bosch GSR 14.4-2 they are available for about £55, Complete with 2 batteries, 1 Hour charger and a carry case and are worth every penny, they also have a 2 speed gearbox

Excellent basic drill/screwdriver,

I've used this so much for basic DIY in the 4 months I've owned it and it's turned out to be a great buy. One charge seems to last for ages and it has the power to do all the household jobs you need it to. It wasn't great drilling into brick but I blame the cheap drill bits I got rather than the drill itself, I'll get some bosch drill bits for next time. The drill itself is a little weighty but that's down to the 18v battery and you don't get power without a little sacrifice. The screwdriver bits it comes with are adequate but have disintegrated pretty rapidly when the bit has slipped with the screw.
In summary, it's a good value drill but best to invest in some decent drill/screwdriver bits

Really gutsy for the price,

Loooooads of torque, keeps going for ages, doesn't overrun (like some cheaper offerings from B&D)holds the bits usefully in he rubber surround, drops the bits uselessly from the rubber surround under any vibration, an external charger would be better in case I invest in a second battery, but about the best £50 I have spent on a power tool and I have lots.
