This is a really horrible story, totally unsuitable for 8 year olds. A greyhound owner murders 6 of his dogs when they stop winning races. My animal loving son was very distressed by this idea. Any parent who has had to put down a much loved family pet will understand why. Completely unnecessary subject matter for the age group. Likely to cause distress. Very disappointing choice for a reading scheme book.
