Product Description

Product Description

Based on his popular 'Rail Around Birmingham' website, this series incorporates a wealth of information and many new pictures of the area's railways in a handy, portable book format, allowing the reader to explore the extensive network, past and present 'on the ground'. Covering every station in the region, line by line, location by location, the book provides a unique record of the development, decline and rebirth of the greater Birmingham's railway network. "Rail Around Birmingham" provides a contemporary photographic survey of the sites of all past and present stations and locations within the area covered, as well as many previously unpublished historical photographs and items of ephemera, together with maps and location details.

Very well written book with good well researched coverage. Covers lines and locations around the once extensive black country rail network not seen in other titles. Plenty of historical pictures of closed lines incredible to see how some have been completelt obliterated. Would have liked to see more past pictures for open stations but apart from that a very good book.

...but the book follows a tried and proven format and layout. Great pictures, good text. If you have any interest ing the history of the railways of the area, or just the social history of the region, it's a good read.
