Product Description

Deep in the jungles of Colombia, a brutal and fast-growing drugs cartel has genetically-modified cocaine to make it ten times more powerful and addictive than any other drug. They call it:

BLACK COKE

Nathan Kershner is an agent with the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency and a former special forces operative. Often working undercover, he has single-handedly brought down some of the most wanted criminals in the world.

But when he clashes with the drugs cartel and tries to stem the flow of Black Coke into Europe and the US, he finds himself up against his most difficult assignment yet.

On a mission that takes him from the crack houses of North London to the underground drug labs of southern Colombia, Nathan enters the darkest regions of the war on drugs, where treachery, greed and violence reign.

With the drugs cartel growing in power by the day, Nathan has to decide just how far he is prepared to go to avert disaster.

What readers have said about James Grenton’s novels:

‘Black Coke is an excellent thriller - one of the best I've ever read.’

‘Grenton's characters are certainly made to suffer, but this is a more grown-up affair than Ludlum's Bourne trilogy - probably a reflection of the moral ambiguity of the modern world in contrast to the clear distinctions of the Cold War. There are no forgone conclusions here, and this is not a comfortable ride for the reader; there are some genuinely shocking moments, and it is hard not to feel tainted by the corruption and compromise of the main characters and events.’

‘It's the originality of the writing and the strength of the plot that really worked for me. I couldn't put the book down!’

‘A terrific read and highly recommended.’

‘I simply couldn't put it down, the action keeps you hooked until the last scene.’

‘A real page turner - full of action and excitement throughout. I've not read a book so quickly in years!’

About the author: After 15 years in the international development sector, James burst onto the thriller scene in 2011 with his debut novel, the Somali Doctrine, which tells the story of an Interpol agent's mission to stop the two madmen who have taken control of the world's largest NGO. James is now working on his third thriller, to be published later this year.

Black Coke is an excellent thriller - one of the best I've ever read. The writing is strong, the characters are engaging and the plot is gripping and fast paced. If you're looking for an intelligent action novel that you can't put down, then Black Coke is for you.

The hero is a British agent called Nathan Kershner. He's ex special forces, so well trained in the military arts, but with a depth of character that you rarely come across in most thrillers. I won't tell you all the unexpected twists and turns of the plot, but I particularly liked the scenes in the crack houses in London and the scene in the sewers in Bogota. It's as if the author actually spent time there...

At the heart of the novel is a deep critique of the failing war on drugs. The author has clearly researched the issue carefully. You get to feel all the despair and futility of the actors involved in what has been called one of the biggest social and economic disasters of history.

I really liked Grenton's first novel, The Somali Doctrine, which I found absorbing and a great read. Black Coke is even better - far superior to the books produced by many of the blockbuster thriller writers. So go ahead and read it. You won't regret it!

This is the first James Grenton book I have read and once into it I could not put it down even although it was on my Kindle. It is really gripping up until the last page and I am sure much of the story goes on in real life. Very impressed so much so that I have just downloaded James Grenton's first book " The Somali Doctrine "

Action packed
A fight to the death of a few goodies against lots of badies. This book has a well written, very strong story-line with non-stop action and is a great Kindle bargain.
