Book Description

28 Jan 2014

The remarkable story of a racing phenomenon: undefeated in 14 races, Black Caviar is the horse that stole the heart of a nation

From the bush tracks of outback Australia to the historic grounds of Royal Ascot, Black Caviar has transformed the lives of those closest to her and touched the souls of those who witnessed her epic feats.

With exclusive access to the Black Caviar syndicate, trainer and jockey, and written by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster Gerard Whateley, Black Caviar documents the career of the racehorse who has transcended the track to become a sporting icon.

With her record-breaking run of 22 wins from 22 starts, Black Caviar has returned racing to its glory days and secured a reputation that will echo for as long as horses are sent out to race.

This book is the authorized telling of Black Caviar. I just finished it. It is well written and has many photos. The book is cheaper than on Black caviars website. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to read about a true champion. Also if you are a diehard fan this book is complete on her racing , injuries, recovery and comeback. One excellent read all around

As a first book by the author you become as passionate as the storyteller. Black Caviar has captured all of our hearts and to read all the background on the players and what a truly magnificent horse she is was a great read. It seems Peter Moody had a great early career with so many in the racing game that were happy to part their knowledge to him. The breeding, all those that love the horse and look after her, she is in very good hands with the trainer and owners she has. We look forward to her blood lines and foals in the years to come.

I'm having a terrible time getting through this book. This author goes on and on about this guy and that guy and that guys sister. Good god I bought the book because it was a story about a horse not somebody's cousin etc, etc. I think the writing is awful and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy, yuk!
5.0 out of 5 stars I love Black Caviar even more now!!! 15 Aug 2013

You don't have to be a race-goer or horse expert to enjoy this book. Simply and lovingly describes the thrill and pride and emotion that the wonderful, beautiful, talented Black Caviar produces in everyone that follows her amazing career!
Go Nellie!
