I couldn't wait any longer for the CD, High Noon seem intent on milking it for all it's worth, so I shelled out for the vinyl. At last we have this album, the only reason I haven't rated it 5 is because of the sound quality, it's obviously off an acetate but it's a lot better than my bootleg cassette tape version. Good collection of songs with varied styles, stand-out tracks are 'Young and Able' which is superior to the two versions on Love Lost, and 'Can't Find It', which I've always thought could be a hit single for someone. Comes with interesting booklet and download card.
What we want now is the session with Hendrix. And why not?

Planned for Jan release delayed due to the bad weather in the US but now available (5,000). This record has its roots from about 40 years ago when Arthur Lee was establishing his new band - it's not a Forever Changes and is more like Lee's VIndicator record.
There's some live filler at the end but the original record is superb electric Love with Lee's voice sounding fine. The following years saw Lee's decline which has been well documented - but we did have the superb shows with the Forever Changes tour a few years back prior to Lee's untimely death. The accompanying book is worth the price alone - file next to Four Sail.

This is a very important release from the Californian band, Love. Dating from 1973, this album never saw the light of day in any official release. Believed lost, it only survived in acetate form. Incredibly a good quality acetate was hunted down and brilliantly transferred to vinyl.
The sound quality on my copy is very good indeed, and I wouldn't know it hadn't been transferred from an analogue master tape. The package is brilliant and lavish. The inner sleeve contains photos of Arthur Lee and comes with an LP sized 26 page booklet with fab pictures of the talented band that Arthur Lee worked with.
So what about the music? There are some clear Hendrix influences and a good deal of funky guitar! I love Arthur's voice, it's so expressive I never tire of it. To me the album is best described as very funky rock music that has a harde edge than the famous 60s stuff that Love are so well known for here in Britain. However, there are slower tracks that give the album balance and a reggae number called Beep Beep that perhaps shouldn't fit but just does! My favourite track though is Skid. It's melody and lyrics are so well matched, I can't get enough of it!
High Moon records have done a great job here and the vinyl is great. I was worried about that because I have found new American vinyl so disappointing, there must be a lot of rubbish pressing plants in the states.
So overall 5 stars for the product and musically I would give the album 8/10. Get buying quick, though because its a limited edition. Mine is in the late 3000s, and only 5000 pressed!

Firstly let me agree with others who have reviewed the packaging of this disc - it is excellent indeed.

However as for the music inside, well this is no classic or unearthed gem, certainly not in my opinion. To be honest this makes Vindicator [ which was released after this ] sound like a classic. the band sound loose and well rehearsed, but that is of little use when the material is this poor. It's arguable that after Four Sail and Out Here that Arthur Lee was burnt out. The latter when applied to this heap of scraps is, to me,telling - lots of bluster but nothing substantial at all. I bought it, but to be honest can't see myself playing it again, if at all. I would advise { especially at this price ] anyone buying it, unless you want to sit and gaze at the packaging, which is exemplary as previously mentioned.
