Set in Italy in 1945, at the end of the Nazi occupation, the film tells the story of Livia (Anna Galiena), the beautiful wife of a high-ranking ministry official who is travelling to Venice to meet Helmut Schultz (Gabriel Garko), a dashing young SS lieutenant with whom she is having a torrid affair. Along the way she relives the sexual experiences that have brought her to this point. Arriving in Venice, she finds the city in chaos - and a surprise awaiting her that serves to reflect her personal situation in the historic and political events occurring around her.

I watched this movie recently and to tell the truth I am deeply disappointed by it. It did not meet any of my expectations from Tinto Brass. You surely expect something special from the maker of "Caligula". The movie is extremely banal and trivial, no passion in the love scenes. Gabriel Garko was not the right actor to play the german macho man. Overall, very boring movie.

Lacks the sensuality and charged atmosphere of All Ladies do it or the "cheekiness" of Cheeky, not least because of the unappealing female protagonist. The film's gesture towards a plot appears perfunctory and non-conclusive. The game is saved by some trademark Brass scenes, such as the embraces of the furtive couple on the beach. As always, cinematography and music are masterful, at least as much of them as it is saved for the viewer of the insultingly non-purposeful English version of the film... Nevertheless, this is still Tinto Brass...

Tinto Brass pulled off another one of his movies in Black Angel.It is a good story and quite erotic.
Livia is married and has a generous husband and it appears he did not care what his wife was up to.
He wanted to serve all sides nazis,fascist and italian resistance fighters at near the end of second world war in Italy.
Livia fell for nazi officer Helmut Schultz who was a better gigolo than an officer of Third Reich. He only had in mind how to bed women,gamble and profiteering and to avoid war. Livia was searching for love and given all to Helmut including lots of money. It is a good plot and erotic at times and topped with private party where anything goes.
