Book Description

Bite Me is the THIRD masterfully bizarre mystery in the Dev Haskell Series.

"What an absolute delight. I enjoyed myself from hilarious the first chapter to the spine tingling ending ... Faricy is the next Carl Hiaasen." -Crime Scene

Wise-cracking, back-slapping, sideways-thinking Private Investigator Dev Haskell is in the middle of dissipating a lover's quarrel with his newest gorgeous knife-wielding female conquest when he gets a call. Members of KRAZ, a radio station that considers itself "the voice of America's future," need protection from an apparent death threat. A cursory investigation leads Dev to the conclusion he's just landed his dream job: providing security for people who don't actually need it. But alas, the dream ends the moment someone shoots at his clients in broad daylight.

Things quickly fly out of control when Dev suddenly finds himself under the police microscope, literally tied up in a relationship with an unpredictable woman, and dodging a growing pile of bodies that all seem to be linked to him.

"Faricy is America's hottest new mystery writer." -The Dirty Lowdown

"Even now I can't believe the way this guy can weave a tale. Just when things were about to get too grim there's a laugh out loud scene that kept me turning the pages. Run, don't walk, to pick up your copy of Bite Me." -The Irish Gazette

    About the Author

Mike Faricy writes suspenseful crime tales populated by unforgetable whacky characters. His books are filled with the sort of oddballs and flakes we're all curious about but wisely prefer to keep at a distance. They won't be saving the world from terriorism, international bank conspiracies or government coups. The situations they find themselves in are due to their own bad decisions, but then bad decisions make for interesting reading. Mike lives with his wife in St. Paul, Minnesota and Dublin, Ireland.

    More About the Author

Mike Faricy is the Award Winning Author of crime fiction mysteries woven together with a rich strain of humor and even some romance.

The Dirty Lowdown called Mike Faricy America's hottest new mystery writer. Robert Carraher referred to him as Minnesota's Master of the Bizarre. Crime Scene referred to him as the next Carl Hiaasen. Crime Capers said; "Open at your own risk, you won't put him down." Under Cover wrote; "This guy is nuts and one hell of a lot of fun." The Irish Gazette referred to "The laugh a minute story lines of Faricy's deliciously engaging worlds."
All his books are stand alone, they can be read in any order. Faricy's novels are filled with the sort of oddballs we're all curious about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance. His characters serve not so much as an example as they do a warning to us all. None of them will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to take over the government. Rather, Faricy's characters inhabit a world just below the surface of polite society. The circumstances they find themselves in are usually due to their own bad decisions, but then bad decisions make for interesting stories.
Faricy's Dev Haskell series is penned with a delightful sense of humor and even some romance. Entertainment is the name of the game as back slapping, corner cutting, babe magnet Dev Haskell interacts with such quirky characters as ice cream mogul Mr. Swirlee, The D'Angelo brothers, local crime lord Tubby Gustafson, 'Fat Freddie' Zimmerman, former NFL tight end Luscious Dixon, exotic dancer Swindle Lawless, and gorgeous Heidi Bauer. The Dev Haskell novels can be read in any order.
Faricy's debut stand alone novel was Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick. He has also written five additional stand alone titles; Baby Grand, Chow for Now, End of the Line, Finders Keepers and Merlot.
Faricy also wrote the popular novella Irish Dukes under the pen name Jack Tunney in the wildly successful Fight Card series.
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Faricy still spends part of his time in the saintly city as well as in Dublin, Ireland. Contact information for Mike Faricy is listed just after this shameless list of titles. Thanks for taking the time and be sure to tell 2-300 of your closest friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FANTASTIC BOOK AND A MUST READ! 15 Jun. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition
    Review 7*******

I was gifted an ARC copy of this book by the author, and I am so pleased that I was one of the few lucky people to receive it! I absolutely LOVED it!
Dev Haskell is what I would call a lucky P.I. He seems to fly by the seat of his pants (and I mean that literally), as he seems to get caught in the most bizarre cases. Trouble seems to find him on a regular basis. But, he's only got himself to blame some of the time. He see's himself as a bit of a ladies man, and he is certainly charming. However, his propensity for the ladies, and drink, is his downfall!
I kept shaking my head as I read this book and thinking to myself, "What are you doing that for? You know you're heading for trouble, and you still do it!". Mind you, if he didn't do those stupid things, there wouldn't be a fantastic book to read!
Mike Faricy has written another fantastic novel, with the most colourful of characters. I loved all the characters, but I've got to say that a couple stood out. One was the Court appointed defence attorney, Louie, and the other was Kiki, Dev's latest girlfriend. I think Louie is a great guy, but he needs to stop drinking so much. And Kiki is one seriously messed up lady!
I am certainly looking forward to reading more of Dev's adventures (or is that misadventures?) as a womanising P.I. I highly recommend this book if you love a detective story with a difference.

I was given this by the author for an honest review
Summary: Another Dev Haskell tale, read them all in any order you wish. In Bite Me, wise cracking, back slapping, wrong thinking PI Dev Haskell has just landed his dream job, providing security for people who don't need it in the first place. That all changes once someone shoots at them in broad daylight. Things quickly fly out of control and Dev suddenly finds himself under the police microscope, literally tied up in a relationship and dodging a growing pile of bodies that all seem to be linked to him. Another in the entertaining Dev Haskell series from Minnesota's Master of the Bizarre, Mike Faricy
    The Review
I read this book first not knowing there was a series going on here, I should have read the other books in the Dev Haskell series first, although you could quite easily read this and know exactly what was going on, He seems to be always in the wrong place at the wrong time, but that just added to his charm, This story had me laughing, Poor Dev, he really did get into some scrapes, I loved the plotline, very twisted, just what I like, would recommend this as a stand alone or part of the series, Though I have not read them yet, I will do, Highly recommend this 4.5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Things are getting serious 17 Jun. 2012
    By I bite
    Format:Kindle Edition
The Dev Haskell saga continues with our hero getting himself into even deeper water due to his shambolic love life and his inability to think above the belt.
There is a noticeable shift in emphasis in this Mike Faricy story away from the purely farcical concepts of Mister Softee and Merlot to a more rugged undertone. Things get serious for Dev and for once he acknowledges the deep hole he has dug for himself.
Dev is not totally inept it's just that his hormones get the better of him. In this story he develops more depth with a little backstory of military service and three failed marriages; it's a good step in the right direction of discovering what maketh the man.
In 'Bite Me' we have Kiki, one hell of a date, who drops a thong into Dev's life as he gets framed for three murders and a rape. Dev makes a great fall-guy. With the help of a drunken lawyer it all comes out right in the end but it's one hell of a journey.
Underpinning the story is some pretty thorough research from Mike which somehow makes the unbelieveable believeable. There are a few minor spelling errors and some missing possessive apostrophes but all-in-all an often hilarious, sometimes gritty but always entertaining top-notch story. Enjoyment level A-triple-plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book With Bite 2 Aug. 2012
I was given and e-copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

PI Dev Haskell thinks he has scored a job that will be easy pickings. After a crazy night with a psycho named Kiki, he gets a call from the owner of KRAZ. The owner states that Dev was recommend by Kiki, which should have been a warning, and wanted to know if he was up for a security job. Dev figured the job would be easy enough since the clients were working out of a "closet" type studio. All is going well, well pretty boring for Dev, until all hell breaks out. One minute Dev is providing security, the next he is running from the law. Dev has gotten into some situations in the past, but this time he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

The storyline kept me entertained from beginning to end. If nothing else, you are sure to get a few laughs on Dev's expense. Can't wait to read more of the series. I was told that you can read the series in any order, but I do feel that reading "Russian Roulette" first helped me understand a little more as far as Dev and his lady friends background.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unlucky in love (and life)! 20 Jun. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition
PI Dev Haskell has an uncanny knack for finding the wrong woman, and manages to get himself into more trouble than anyone else on the planet. In his latest escapade he gets involved with Kiki, who seems to leave a trail of dead bodies, for which Haskell gets the blame. His alcoholic lawyer has a tough time staying sober enough to help, so Dev has to investigate his own case to prove his innocence.

I love Mike Faricy's characters - all deeply flawed but utterly believable - not a hero in the bunch. His stories are always entertaining and keep you turning the page to see what other messes his main character bumbles into.

A witty, gritty, and campy romp, you'll love the twists and turns as Dev jumps from the frying pan into the fire in this kooky caper. Very enjoyable, Mr. Faricy!
