About the Author

Lynsay Sands is the nationally bestselling author of the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter vampire series, as well as numerous historicals and anthologies. She’s been writing stories since grade school and considers herself incredibly lucky to be able to make a career out of it. Her hope is that readers can get away from their everyday stress through her stories, and if there are occasional uncontrollable fits of laughter, that’s just a big bonus.

Jeaniene Frost is the New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of the Night Huntress series and the Night Huntress World novels. To date, foreign rights for her novels have sold to nineteen different countries. Jeaniene lives in North Carolina with her husband Matthew, who long ago accepted that she rarely cooks and always sleeps in on the weekends. Aside from writing, Jeaniene enjoys reading, poetry, watching movies with her husband, exploring old cemeteries, spelunking and traveling—by car. Airplanes, children, and cookbooks frighten her.

This bundled edition consisting of 2 new, Christmas-themed, novellas one each by Lynsay Sands and Jeaniene Frost makes for an overall enjoyable read.

The Lynsay Sands story 'The Gift' is presented first and is the shorter of the two. Teddy Brunswick, the chief of Port Henry police is 64 and has never married. A good-looking man (in a Sean Connery kind of way), but he's definitely feeling the aches and pains of no longer being in his youth, and when it comes to Christmas he decides to take the advice of his friend Marguerite Argeneau and escape to a house in the country to avoid pity invitations to spend Christmas with one of his friends. Teddy doesn't realise that he is being set up by the woman responsible for finding the life mates of many of her Argeneau relatives - and that Marguerite has sent beautiful rogue vampire hunter Katricia ('Tricia' NOT 'Kat'), who also wishes to avoid the excesses of friends/family at Christmas to stay in the house next door. The idea of a May/December-seeming romance is interesting and makes a change from the standard fare - despite the fact that although she appears young enough to be Teddy's granddaughter it is Katricia who is by far the elder - but 'The Gift' is ultimately a cop-out on this issue. Generally written well with typical humour, though in my view the frequent references to "Little Teddy" are tacky and overdone. 3.5/5

Jeaniene Frost's 'Home For the Holidays', left me with a smile on my face. The story follows on from Book 6 One Grave at a Time: A Night Huntress Novel: A Night Huntress Novel a Night Huntress Novel (Night Huntress Novels) and opens with Cat throwing a surprise party for Bones' 245th birthday.

I must admit I only read Jeaniene Frost's story but I loved it! I've read an extract from her next book and it is useful for understanding that too. It's been a while since I read it but I loved it!

3.0 out of 5 stars One Good One Uninteresting 17 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book starts with the Lynsay Sands story of Argeneau regular, nearing retirement, Chief of Police Teddy Brunswick. In a charming story we see how immortal and seemingly youthful, Katricia, sets about wooing the man she knows to be her life-mate while the two are snow bound in a Canadian winter.

The second story by Jeanine Frost seemed amateurish by comparison - too much exposition and not enough character development early on. I didn't find it interesting at all and gave up after a few chapters. Unfortunately this story covers about 60 percent of the book. So buy it if you are an Argeneau follower. Otherwise start with an earlier novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The bite before Christmas 7 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The first story was good but the second story started the same way as one of Jeaniene Frost main books and I nearly didn't carry on reading the rest of the book, however I'm pleased I did because the story was good. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
