    This is what happens when you ignore people's one star review, you end up having to post your own one star review. This product worked well for the first month and was certainly worth four stars however, once a major update was needed for the product it all went to pot. The Site-Advisor stopped working, with the fix being a clean install, only for it to fail when the update was almost immediately installed again. My other major gripe was system lag, I have a fairly powerful PC yet it took several minutes to open Word files or move files like pictures around my PC, it was bloody ridiculous.

    Avoid this trash.

    BitDefender Total Security 2013 - 3 User 1 Year (PC)BitDefender Total Security 2013 is highly rated the best Internet Security Suite available but it didn't work for us. Not only did it crash almost immediately after installation on it's first scan, it froze my whole PC. This software freezes quite often and for no apparent reason and then it often freezes the whole computer. The only way to restart BitDefender or to restore function to the PC is to reboot the whole system. This happens a lot!! Let me say this again, this happens a lot!! Not only did I buy the 3 user 1 year option but I found immediate identical problems with our other PC. Both are Windows 7 Desktops and neither had any issues prior to this installation. After only a couple of days I have had no option but to un-install BitDefender as not only has this wasted time with all the reboots and freezes I lost some recent work too! This isn't just disappointing, it's annoying! Jolly annoying! I really don't recommend this software at all. I have now installed Kaspersky Internet Security on both systems and it's running perfectly. To my shame, I thought other uses who had similar problems might have had problems with their setup. But this really is unstable, unusable, unreliable and basically not fit for purpose. The only reason it has 1 star is becasue Amazon wouldn't allow the no-star this deserves. BitDefender, I would like a full refund, please!

    I've used bitdefender for about 5 years and have always been happy with it. Until now. This utter piece of junk completely spannered my laptop. Other users experiences seem similar to mine.
    After uninstalling my previous edition of Bitdefender Total security (2011), I rebooted and began the install process. The install process completed, but stated that there was a file missing and advised reinstall. The software detected that Bitdefender was now on the laptop and needed to uninstall itself before it could reinstall itself again. Unfortunately it couldn't complete the uninstall properly, because it hadn't installed properly the first time and then it failed to do anything.
    I tried using the unistall software from the Bitdefender website, but this made things worse and rendered the laptop unable to access the internet and still didn't remove Bitdefender. It also prevented a few other programs from running properly.
    Next option was system restore - but this failed to run properly because of Bitdefender preventing any changes.
    After a lot of cursing, I eventually managed to restore the old Bitdefender from a recent backup and then complete a system restore from safe mode. This rendered the laptop useable again.

    I have finally removed the old bitdefender (again) and have now installed Kaspersky which seems to be running fine, albeit a little slower than prior to all of the above shenanigans.

    Bitdefender has had good reviews in the press, and maybe it installs properly if you download the software straight from their website, but after forcing me to spend the best part of 5 hours unistalling and recovering my laptop to a useable state, I'll not touch their products again.
