I've had problems with this software, so I really cannot recommend it. Although it installed perfectly, after installation, I found that it attempted to block access to many of the websites I use regualarly. Add to this the way it slowed down almost every aspect of my PCs operation, coupled with constant error messages and warnings about site security, and I soon lost patience with it. Disabling the firewall and AV solved the problems, but whats the point of having this software if you have to disable it to get your PC running properly? In the end I decided to deinstall and revert back to my Norton IS package. No Internet Security package is perfect, but in my case, BitDefender fell way short of the mark. Not recommended.

I have many years experience with anti-virus software packages. I removed my previous anti-virus and anti-spyware (actually one package similar to this one) and rebooted the computer. I suspect some of the negative reviews here are because others failed to do this.
For this installation, I selected the expert settings I followed the instructions and when asked if I wanted to download the latest version I clicked OK. The download was fairly quick but the installation was quite slow.
Once installed I selected a full system scan. I knew this would take a long time but I left the computer running overnight.
Since it was installed, I have monitored my machines resources. BitDefender uses no more, no less than the other market leaders.
At this price, I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Let's be clear, you are renting this service for a year, you are not buying it. It annoys me to see that in the US, BitDefender is selling 'value 2 year licences'. If you shop around, at the time of writing, you can get that for (the US dollar equivalent) of less than the 1 year package (available to us here)
It slowed down my computer and installation was convoluted. I experienced frequent freezing/crashing problems - make sure you download the most up-to-date build from their website, or UPDATE the software; that might help.Once installed, I found it to be a bloated resource hog. It interfered with PhotoShop and I experienced problems with false-positives. I've had BSOD ("Blue Screens of Death")
Note that I installed this on a new (super clean and fast) machine.
The after-sales support is not good - slow and inefficient. BitDefender really must step up their game!
The parental controls can be bypassed, if your child is computer literate he/she may be able to do this; only supervised internet usage can be recommended.
