Superb spot of Security, 28 Nov 2008
This review is from: BitDefender Internet Security 2009 (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Gamers are known for turning off their firewalls, with this one there is no need for that at all.
With its ease of installation and none of that messing about with it to get it how you want for your machine, it was easy to install.
Just install & forget about it. I waited for my activation mail to change it from a trial version to registered version and it came immediately. Had to laugh Bit defender sent it to the Spam folder...
I installed on my spare computer and my nieces computer, hers hadn't had any Internet Security for about a year, it found one Trojan and removed it no questions asked, marvelous, but couldn't delete 2 cookies that it saw as malicious?????? Hence the reason I gave it 4 stars.
On my spare one it found a few things wrong and sorted them straight away, now it is running smoothly again. Before it was sluggish and error after error. My previous Anti virus was AVG so was shocked to find it didn't work as well as I thought it would.
The user interface is nice and easy to use and looks nice and clean looking too. Easy to find what you want and where to change it.
It updates every 2 hours and runs in the background unobtrusive. Doesn't nag you like some of the others do.
Detects every virus and has powerful heuristics to detect new ones.
I haven't tried their customer service, so can't comment on it.
This is voted the best everywhere. But I think BullGuard will give it a run for its money.
It is so easy to use. Good value for money and the one Amazon is selling is for a 3 PC license. Nice.

Excellent Security Software #1 in my book, 25 Nov 2008
This review is from: BitDefender Internet Security 2009 (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I have used many security software and anti-virus products both at home and at work.
BitDefender Internet Security 2009 is certainly one of the best if not the best!
Easy install, easy operation.
You can run the interface in a simple mode or a more complicated advanced mode if you like to dabble.
After the first install, it is best to leave your computer running overnight while the software does a deep scan. After that, you will probably never notice it is working quietly in the background.
When it finds a problem, either suspect virus or a SPAM email, the message it generates is very clear.
A very nice feature is called 'Games mode'. I never play games but do use Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Bitdefender asked if I wanted to run them in 'Games mode'. This reduced the background scanning and allowed my full screen applications to run faster.
The SPAM filter seemed a little slow and I eventually told it to stop, relying on my mail client's built-in filter.
There is a built-in facility to back up 2GBytes of files on the internet. I never tried this as I am inclined to be slightly paranoid about my identity.
Overall, I give this software the thumbs up

Works well., 11 Jan 2009
This review is from: BitDefender Internet Security 2009 (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Hmm. I've had definite issues trying to install this product. Though it appears from other reviews I may be the only one. An initial installation brought up a warning regarding the product had not passed a certain certification. Continuing anyway, I was met by the same message repeatedly, until I eventually quit. It installed itself anyway!
Ok. Scanned my system, it found a few problems and fixed them. Only upon further use did I find another problem - it hadn't logged the scan. Hmm, another problem - unable to update. Live help tried to help, told me that it was probably a conflict with Spybot S&D. Nope, that wasn't it.
Bah, reinstall. Ignore Windows' warnings. Problem solved, update working.
Apart from these problems, there really is a lot here. Combine all the security features with Bitdefenders reputation and you've got a great value package.
