Format: Hardcover
I had this book for Christmas, 2008, it was actually a gift to myself! For those acquainted with Magnolia Pearl you would not be surprised at the content. My knowledge on this designer was very limited but I was not disappointed. This book contains the most lavishly decorated interiors, as the title illustrates, in velvet and lace. The illustrations combine very traditional styling with shabby chic. It also contains pictures of fashion items produced by Magnolia Pearl, which includes clothes and backpack style bags all frothily embellished with antique crochet and the like. There is no making instructions here but the style could easily be brought into your own home at very little cost. I havent read too much of the text but I think Robin Brown (aka Magnolia Pearl) was of gypsy descent and her style reflects this. I was delighted with this book and im sure that all of you out there who enjoy vintage style will love this book as I did.
