4.0 out of 5 stars Still better than most 23 Dec 2007
By P. Lee
I've been using this machine for about 2 months and I have to say, it has worked flawlessly up until this point. Not only is it a great vaccuum cleaner; using a water tank as the filter, it lifts dog hair and what not straight out of our carpets. It's also a very good carpet cleaner. It certainly out performed the upright Vax machines I tried which just soaked the carpets and leaked everywhere.
Now to the negative points, of which there are a few unfortunately!
1. Between vaccuuming and carpet cleaning, the machine's tanks need to be removed, cleaned and filled, depending on what you are cleaning. Once you know what you are doing, this can take at most 5 minutes though.
2. The hose does not untwist itself and will easily get kinked when you change direction. Again, once you are aware of this, you can avoid it. It can slow you down though :(
3. And finally, my biggest gripe, which is also down to the design is a rubber tube which feeds the shampoo from the machine to the head. It appears to be made of silicone and when you are shampooing the carpets, this tube fills with hot water and expands like a balloon until you pull the trigger to spray the shampoo and release the pressure building up in the tube. Mine burst and split open spraying the shampoo/water everywhere.
Bissell customer services are 9-5 Monday to Friday and a few hours on Saturday morning only, so I have yet to be able to contact them.

All of these problems may be down to my particular machine as it had only just been released when I bought it and these flaws may have been fixed by now.
If I had written this review a month ago, it would have received 5 stars from me as it is a great little machine with large tanks that genuinely does clean carpets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Same problem 9 Jan 2008
I have been using my Allrounder for about 3 months now and have experienced the same problems as the other reviewer - the silicone solution line got very hot and split during cleaning. I contacted Bissell Customer services and had a new one delivered within 2 weeks. Aside from this I love it, it cleans well as a vacuum, carpet cleaner and hard floor cleaner - and we have a very dirty dog!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 24 July 2008
By Mrs.Mac
I searched high and low and read so many reviews when trying to choose a carpet cleaner for my home. In the end I decided just to go to the local Hydro shop and choose whichever they had their. They had the Bissell Pre-Heat Allrounder on offer for £199.99, so I chose this as I thought I would benefit from it being a 2-in-1 and being in a 2 bed terrace I don't have a lot of storage space.

The vacuuming capabilities of this machine where fantastic - to start with. It really did bring up the carpets like new (on vacuum). However after a few weeks (of not using more than twice a week) the turbo brush stopped rotating. I emailed Customer Services who sent me a replacement free of charge within days. This only worked twice then also failed to rotate, there was no hair or blockages to cause this. So due to this I ended up taking to machine back to the shop for a refund.

Cleaning capabilities: I cleaned the downstairs hall carpet (heavy traffic), living room rug, wooden floor and kitchen lino and the car with this machine. And in all you can really see that it lifts a lot of dirt, but it requires more elbow grease than I realised!! There are no rotating brushes like on the upright machines, you have to push down quite hard and spray the water out through the hose, then pull the brush backwards and forwards until all the water is sucked up. I was impressed with it's performance in the car, but I would have to use it quite a lot on the heavy traffic areas to make much of a difference. The special wooden floor tool was very very good, I really did like this side of the machine, it actually dried the floor for you and the floor looked visabily cleaner, the lino was like new in terms of cleanness. This is the function I used most often.
