The Bissell is brilliant. Much better than our Vax Rapide. The brushes on it are really good for fluffing up carpets and getting the deep down dirt up and out. It is really light and easy to steer. Much better design than vax has proper holder for plug and reach tool. We only vaxed our carpets at the weekend, three days later the Bissell brought up incredibly dirty water and the 7 year old carpets look almost good as new! Very happy with this purchase.

Chose this cleaner after much research, and wanted something easy to store and which actually does the job without being too expensive.
It was easy to assemble, and it's quite small, which is what we wanted. It's easy to fill, easy to empty, and easy to clean afterwards. It came with a small bottle of solution, and half of this cleaned a lounge carpet, a small hall carpet, and a rug (flat pile). The lounge carpet which is pale mushroom had suffered much due to two dogs who keep forgetting to wipe their feet when they come in. After one shampoo it is amazing how clean it looks and the amount of dirt that came out was unbelievable. The cleaner is very light, easy to use and very quick.
To be fair the carpets are still damp and I suspect it's going to take about ?24hrs for them to dry. Haven't tried the hose and tool brush yet, but it looks ideal to clean the stairs.
If you've got a big house, you'll probably need a bigger model, but for a small to medium property, this is probably ideal. All in all 10 out of 10 from us.

i'd owned a larger, more powerful Bissell cleaner for ten years and this item was bought as a lightweight replacement my wife could use easily for spot and stain removals. Once assembly was done (a little tricky) I was impressed with the simple operation and cleaning power.

I decided to buy this after looking at the reviews and comparing the price with other retailers (Argos was selling this for £199.99 !!!)and I wasn't dissapointed. Easy to put together although I did struggle a little bit tightening up the screws at the back, but that may be just me.
One of the best things about this cleaner is the water and cleaning solution marks on the water tank, so there is no fiddly measuring and you know you have the correct ratio of water to solution AND you get a free 8oz bottle of cleaning solution to get you started.
I have a beige carpet in my lounge and it started to look a bit grubby, especially in the high traffic areas but after just one go with this cleaner it looks a million times better and my carpet was virtualy dry afterwards.
Included with this cleaner is a very handy spot cleaner attachment and hose, ideal for upholstery, stairs and to treat any little spills
(which is something Argos tried to pass off as a special deal !!!)

My only gripe is that the clean water tank is quite small ,so cleaning an average sized room may need a couple of refils of the tank, but saying that, after you clean your carpet a couple of times with the included 'scotchguard' solution I should imagine that your carpet will stay cleaner for longer, so its not a big deal really and its a small price to pay for having a lovely, fresh smelling, carpet again.
I would definetly recommend this cleaner :-) 5*

Very easy to assemble, took me around 10 minutes and easy to follow instructions on how to use. Big advantage was how light it was to use. Did my mum' s lounge carpet first and I was really impressed - she wasn't with the amount of dirty water extracted! Next our grubby fabric office chair. Again very good results.

Overall this is the best and most simplistic carpet cleaner I've ever used (and there's been a few). Easy to clean afterwards as well.

Whilst not where near the most expensive or feature laden model in the entire range this a simple yet very effective carpet cleaner. A fairly straightforward machine to assemble, just a medium sized cross head screwdriver required. Three screws, a few clicks and you are ready to go.
I got mine as a refurbished model for £100, and it came as if it were brand new, even the small bottle of solution was intact.

The Tools/Hose function hasn't been used and the supplied nozzle attachment is not a 'Stairs tool', but Bissell will sell you one for £8.75 plus carraige (eek)!

Pros:
1) Reasonably lightweight and on par with a cheapy hoover. Gets heavier with water in it ,of course.
2) Easy to fill and place the header tank.
3) Simple to remove dirty tank.
4) Water and solution fill lines clearly marked on header tank which are designed for Bissell cleaning solutions.
5) Quieter than a hoover
6) External hose wrap in a good position, unlikely to fall off when the body is inclined in floor cleaning mode.
7) Simple floor/tools switch on dirty tank
8) Easy to use
9) Narrow width profile for smaller spaces and compact enough for after use storage.

Cons: Only a few niggles that would NOT distract from purchasing.

1) Dirty tank in proportion size to header tank, therfore you run out of solution as the dirty tank gets to 99% of it's capacity when horizontal. This results in some content slop when moving the cleaner around-so be careful.
2) Dirty tank has an internal construction which slightly restricts an 'even and flowing' method of water disposal. So you end up turning the tank upside down and back again to get the water into the right position to empty.
