Well, I've already said I saw the band at my local art centre and was immediately enthused by their originality, musical talent, incredible lyrics and all round entertainment value.
'Biscuits for Cerberus' (the mythical, many headed dog, reputed to guard the entrance to the underground kingdom of the dead) is Flipron's second album, released in 2006.
It is equally as addictive as their first and every track is different and unique.
Track 8: 'The End of Summer' has the vague wistfullness of Nick Drake's work and I promised myself I wouldn't mention influences.
How do I know?
Is name dropping the height of pomposity?
Never the less, here I go.
I detect touches of Frank Zappa, maybe The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, surely The Doors and sometimes Jesse's vocal delivery reminds me of that wonderful poet, John Cooper Clark.
So, at the gig, just a few weeks ago, I bought their most recent CD, released 2008 'Gravity Calling'...loved it and HAD to buy Flipron's first two albums, which I've reviewed.
I cannot recommend this brilliant band too highly.
