Product Description

Review

"Birth Space, Safe Place is a sensitive and supportive guide to the journey of pregnancy and birth. Adela's gentle advice encourages women to tune into, and trust, the wisdom of their bodies, helping to transform birth from an experience of pain and suffering to one of the most powerful and fulfilling experiences of a woman s life. Highly recommended." --Dr Sarah J Buckley author, Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering: A Doctor s Guide to Natural Childbirth and Gentle Early Parenting Choices

"This is a lovely book for any women wanting to explore the possibilities of a gentler way of giving birth in which she is in harmony with her body, and free from what is often conveyor belt management in a large institution." --Sheila Kitzinger, author, The New Pregnancy and Childbirth - Choices and Challenges, and Birth Crisis

"This book is engaging, clear and emphasises again and again the emotional and potentially spiritual ways in which birth touches us all very deeply. It encourages women to think carefully about the people and the environment they need to feel safe and supported, to listen to themselves as well as those around them, to remain grounded in their own thoughtfully made decisions, and to trust that usually birth goes well. Adela's book will be a very welcome addition to our library." --Nadine Edwards, Co Founder of the Birth Resource Centre in Edinburgh and author, Birthing Autonomy: Women's experiences of planning home births

I read many pregnancy books whilst expecting my first baby and this one exceeded my expectations! It is well written, to the point and covers everything you may wish to find out about during pregnancy, labour and birth, without losing you in too much technicality. Issues are dealt with gently and you are guided to further resources. This helps keep the book succinct and easy to read without lacking on detail.

I would strongly recommend this for anyone looking to find out more about their options in childbirth, and for any woman curious about her pregnancy and imminent birth.

A great book!

Adela's book arrived Wednesday :) and I've just finished Reading it!

It's beautiful, questioning, and directs us to healing issues from our own births and our life experiance. How to shift pain to empowerment, and truly be. Why our perceptions influence birth.
This book has raised questions about my own birth and my life, and even after much healing, it will make me review that proccess and when the time comes to have the confidence, to have a birth that I can enjoy and to release my pain.

It's the quickest most insperatioal, read that allows you to forgive your past, and be a great person!

I had read the author's previous book Positive Pain (this book is an update of that one- so they are very similar) and I love it. It's great because it is very concise and speaks so positively of birth. I would be very happy to recommend it to parents to be and health professionals alike.... and if you are looking for a small book to put you in the mood to a gentle birth... this is definitely IT!

This is a wonderful book. So genuinly & unselfishly written. Most books these days are only written to make a quick buck. But this one has such a pure purpose you can tell it was written to help and inspire. And it achieved it's aim for me. I would reccomend it to anyone who was, knew someone who was or worked with pregnant women :)
