heavily skewed to water birds and winter 3 Mar 2012

This is an extensive list of sites. It (2004) is a nicely-laid out hardcover book not too heavy to bring on a road trip. There are some nice color plates thrown in, and decent maps for orientation. The chief problem is that the author has basically zero interest in passerines, and you are lucky to find "also some woodland birds" in any of the site summaries. So it is nice to have, but will not be enough by itself for anyone wanting to make plans for a more comprehensive birding trip. On the other hand, if good sites for sea watches and passage is what you want, this has plenty.
Birding UK and Ireland 7 Jan 2011

Copyright 2004 but still reasonable. Well written and helpful for seeing and identifying birds in specific areas. The price was good coming from UK to US--listed in the used category but was a new book. I was familiar with two birding areas covered and found descriptions similar to what I remembered from my past trips but with much new information.
