Robert White is the son of an early recording artist who went under the name of The Silver Masked Tenor who specialised in these kind of songs.
Here are all the big ones of the Palm Court-the earliest pop songs to be recorded.
Songs which can still hit today eg Roses of Picardy which has seen versions by the Platters and Vince Hill
The 4 Indian Love Lyrics of Amy Woodforde Finden could have been the first to use Indian influences

This is a delightful way to be transported back to a distant era when the evening's entertainment revolved around the piano in the parlour - except that my relatives did not sing these songs with the effortless perfection Robert White brings to them. How wonderful to be reminded that songs like "Pale Hands I Loved" and "Ah Moon of My Delight" are not merely sentimental jokes but musical artworks worthy of our serious attention. I play this cd every evening and feel thankful for having discovered it.
