Unbelievable! Amazing! Incredible! Spectacular!... and that's just the acrobatics cats pull off trying to catch this thing!
''Da Bird'' is widely regarded by experts as the best cat toy there is - and my 2 cats agree. In fact, it's so potent a toy it's only recently become available in the UK (I used to have to import mine from the US!).
It's collapsable for easy storage and you can get different attachments for it too. I've tried them all but the original bird-like feathers get by far the best energetic, manic, and oddly positioned airborne results.
My 2 cats go bonkers every time I get it out the cupboard (oh yes, it has to be locked away!) and make all manner of weird clicks, chirps and calling sounds when I bring it out to play.
They go whizzing through the air, spinning, diving and weaving about just like ''Da Bird's'' feathered head does when I swing it around. And that's ''Da Bird's'' secret.
For those of you who fish, ''Da Bird'' works like a spinning lure on the end of a fishing pole. As you trace an arc through the air, the feathers spin on the end of the line and make a fluttering sound, mimicking a real bird I guarantee no cat can resist.
With a bit of practise you can get pretty good at controlling it too, and pretty soon you'll be 'casting' it on top of shelves, cupboards and door frames.
It's best used as intended though; by simply pulling it through the air, then whisking it past kitty, you can get him to jump and contort mid-air into all sorts of funny shapes and positions.
Backflips, star jumps, 360s and standing pikes into forward rolls - they're all possible when my cats are chasing this thing. In fact, I'm thinking of entering them in the 2012 Olympics.
I'm pretty sure with ''Da Bird'' in our corner we'd scoop a gold medal and beat Russia and China in the gymnastics with ease. We'd probably stand a good chance at the 100m too if I could just dangle this thing at the finish line!
I can't recommend this product enough. Just watch your moggie go bananas trying to catch what they think is a real bird.
In fact, when mine catch it, they actually crunch the plastic where the feathers meet the line. It's as if they think it's alive and they're trying to break its neck or something.
Then, the one who caught it growls at his brother (to warn him off), and skulks away to a hiding place behind the sofa with his fresh kill it dangling from his mouth.
He he he, but then I just pull it out from underneath him with a quick tug on the line and another round begins!!! 10/10... and that's from the cats not me. Just one thing - be sure to stock up on the refills!!!!
