Bips Gets Fit 1 Jan 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Let's start with the workouts. There's two 25 minute circuit training works outs designed to give an overall cardio and strength workout. They're pretty intensive and will tire you you out, They start and end with warm ups, cool downs and stretches and it's performed by Basu and her trainer Deanne. Some execises are shown with modification for beginners, such as planks. You will need a weight of some kind for these workouts, tins, bottles of water, dumbells etc.

There's a timer on the screen that counts down the workout, which I quite liked. The music is crap, I have to say, some bouncy dance crap.

While the two workouts are meant to be be one for beginners and one for advanced, in truth a fit person could do the first workout and use heavier weights to push on or turn it into a time trial, whilst still keeping proper form. I do that with 30 Day Shred, just treat them as another workout. So the workouts are still usable by any fitness level, you just have to use your ingenuity.

Upside to workouts - done and dusted in 25 minutes, great workout, execellent progression as you get fitter
Downside - the music is awful.

You do have the option to have the instruction in both English and Hindi, with or without music. The music is both Western dance and Bollywood, but I didn't like either.

The Extras - are a bit hit and miss. There's a making of with interviews with the cast and crew, which I enjoyed. There's interviews about fitness and overall health with both Bipasha and Deanne, also good. There's a 30 minute "I Love Bips" with a studio full of Bollywood stars, including her partner. It's hilarious, for the wrong reasons. There's a hell of a lot of adverts for products she must endorse in India. There's adverts for other actor-led fitness DVDs. There's a text run through of the muscles and the body and what exercises work them, which is informative. There's a bonus Reebok workout led by Bips which take you through one circuit of a complete workout (repeat the circuit to complete the workout)

So, I really enjoyed this DVD, it's less expensive than other actor led DVDs, it'll be a great addition to your workout schedule in its own right, it doesn't take long each day and it's bi-lingual.

Excelent 19 Feb 2011
Format:DVD
It came in a well-protected packaging; the print is nice, overall the exercises are shown really effective, anybody can do it. I'm glad that i made a good choice to buy this video, and Bipasha Basu is my favourite actress who got a fit body. Now she shows how she did it... don't miss it girls....

Was I impressed by the good reviews of this DVD in this website? Yes, I was
Was I seduced by the cover, featuring a slightly Beyonceish looking Bipasha? Yes Sir/Madam I was. Mea culpa.
I bought it, play it, love the look of the set, the kindness of Panday and Basa, their charming way of speaking, the good connection between them (must known each other for a long time).Appreciate the written info before the actual workout. Love the warm up. Love the stretches in cool-down with a touch of Yoga. Then I started the beginner level.

1.Strength. 30 seconds of chess press with weights and crunches and 30 secs of static lounges with weights curl.
Oh, J. Michaels does this in 30 days shred but adding a bending knee...

2.Cardio,2 minutes . Combination of jumping jacks and oblique twists jumping (30secs+30secs).DEJA-VU, ANYONE?
Abs, 1 minute.30 seconds of crunches with your hands on the chess rather than behind your ears and 30 secs of combination of crunches with butt lift.

At this point a knew IT but I thought 'oh, this is interval training in a very relax manner. I don't mind to do this instead my usual Hannah, Jillian or Biggest loser DVDs.It's perfect for those lazy days...' So I kept going...

3.Strengh. 30 secs of squads with weight arm extentions +30 secs of dumbell row...Mmm the only difference here is they do static squad while Jillian keeps you moving your knees.

4.Cardio. 2 minutes of cardio. Guess what? 30 secs of side punches+30 secs of jumps rope.Repeat again

It was clear to me at this point that I had swap my glass of Champagne for a very fancy looking glass of Cava. Not just mainly because they are remaking Michaels' best-selling workout (with slight modifications) or use a technique that is been around for a few years (interval training) like they have discovered themselves.
No,It was more because they broke the golden rule of interval training workouts:DONT STOP FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS in between exercises. Your cardio rate will slow down and you won't burn the calories you should. But I kept going...

5.Abs 1 minute , static plank +side planks
They add here a couple of mat exercise targeting gluteus which are ok.
7.To finish ,guess what? 2 minutes cardio repeating all the cardio section previously done. Hummm...

I don't know you but I'm looking for something of the same quality that the very best fitness DVD's and this is not.I have decided to punish myself today with a combination of Davina's and 10 minute solution Blast of Belly Fat for being a lazy girl....
