Product Description

The Biosync B-50DL answers the physician, medical, home health care, sports and aviation markets' demand for a lightweight, inexpensive monitor for measuring SPO2 oxygen saturation and heart rate after physically active and high-altitude activities. The Biosync B-50DL finger pulse oximeter offers the user a greater ability to monitor these vital signs under motion and is less expensive than most available devices.

The Biosync B-50DL Finger Pulse Oximeter is very small, lightweight & measures blood oxygen saturation (%SpO2) and pulse rate. The B-50DL operation is based upon a uniquely patented algorithm that use dual 'see-through' sensor technology for the accurate measurement of blood oxygen saturation levels and heart pulse rate. Please note however that the B-50DL will NOT monitor SPO2 during activity and movement. You must stop the current activity and take the reading while stationary. Movement will cause readings to be affected by artifacts

Ideal for Doctors, Home Health Care, Clinics

4.0 out of 5 stars So cheap, and it works! 7 Mar 2012
I'm a GP, and like some other reviewers, I remember when these cost 500. This works as well as others I have used - perhaps a little slower than some, but fine. I'll be interested to see how long the batteries last as it has an LED display and more expensive devices use LCDs. (But all sats meters use LEDs for the actual measuring). Durability - who knows? But I've used much more expensive devices that fell apart in a couple of years. At this price you can't go wrong, and I'm buying one for every clinical room at our large practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Biosync Finger Pulse Monitor 26 Mar 2013

Having had heart surgery recently and being useless at measuring my own pulse I bought this just to make sure I was still alive.
It is easy to use although instructions are sparse.
I do have an irregular heart beat and this may affect the function of the monitor.
Quite often the 1st pulse rate reading is miles out e.g. 100 at rest when it ought to be 56 or sometimes it is as low as 45.
Because I know what my HB ought to be I have ignored the erroneous readings but this would not be good if
I was depending upon an accurate reading.
The Oximeter is spot on as far as I can tell.
Instructions are essentially put it on your finger and press the button so there's no way of knowing if it's bad technique.
I've tried most of my digits with the same result. So now I take about 4 readings until they are consistant.
I've given it a 3 because I don't know if it's me or the monitor causing the variable readings

Update 12 April been to the hospital for a checkup, my heart beat is now regular and has a new higher HB at rest.
The Biosync works perfectly. It would seem that previous readings were correct and it was my HB that was fluctuating.
I did not realise that HB could change in this way.
I have therefore upgraded my rating to 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact Pulse Monitor 3 Nov 2011
My irregular heart rate (atrial fibrillation) can be monitored wherever I happen to be. This monitor clamps comfortably onto my index finger and continuously monitors my pulse when in place. The LED display is clear and it also gives an indication of the pulse strength and a measure of oxygen in the blood.
I am never without it - and I even took it with me to Cardiology to check it against their pulse monitor - both read 51 beats per mnute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine 29 Sep 2012

This Oximeter is wonderful. It gives SATS and heartrate. It is incredibly accurate. I bought this because my mother has COPD and a recent exacerbation meant she was continually anxious about whether she had enough oxygen in her blood.
A couple of weeks ago her SATS dropped from about 90 to 70s and she felt very unwell too. The next day she visited her GP and her SATS were in the 70s. She was rushed to hospital and is now back home. The readings in the hospital and by a district nurse at home have been exactly the same as on this Oximeter both for SATs and heartrate.
This is a great device to monitor my Mothers condition. However my mother has been told to avoid the temptation to check SATS all the time as this is not necessary.

A great device at a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great :) 3 Sep 2013

I'm fascinated by all things medical, so this was a brilliant purchase for me. Following a minor scare last year it is also interesting to monitor my heart rate etc, and this device does it well. Reading is there within seconds of placing it on the finger, it seems very accurate and so far it hasn't failed to pick up my pulse once. Highly recommended.
