This is the forth instalment movie of the Bionicle franchise and takes a dramatic turn from the first three previous films. The story continues on from last year, the Great Spirit Mata Nui has been awoken, but Makuta Teridax has taken over his body and banishes Mata Nui's mind and spirit into the Mask of Life and ejects the mask from his own body. Soon the Mask of Life crash lands on a desert world (Bara Magna) forming a body for Mata Nui to use, now Mata Nui now has to survive this new harsh universe, where glatorians battle each other tribe's villages to solve disputes and resources while terrible eniemies called Skrall and Bone Hunters challenge all tribes full on. Can Mata Nui re-unite this torn world, is there a traitor in the group and can Mata Nui ever find his way back to re-claim what was his?
The forth Bionicle film is much better as every, single character perfectly matches their toy set counterparts in LEGO and you can't see a trace of organic tissue anywhere (an issue from the first movie onwards) which will please many fans as the film closely builds to the toy line products. Another point to make is the film has done a radical change from being too dark like the third film to a too much childish film, meaning it might be un-bearable to some older fans of Bionicle in general.
Don't get me wrong, the CGI is better than ever and the plot is good but what is wrong is that the music is horrible, even the fight between Skopio, Bone Hunters and Glatorian was weak, there was no dramatic moments at all. Some of the voicing is not good like Kiina who sounds like a hyperactive little girl, but Michael Dorn (Mata Nui) did his voice over very well. The sound effects aren't great either as most of the sound effects seem to be gotten from YouTube videos like the classical fall scream and Godzilla roars.
Overall, Bionicle is recommended to all but nothing to get to excited over because the dramatic elements that were once here have gone and the film is so much more childish than the first three previous films of Bionicle and the music/sound effects aren't great. However to leave this on a good note, the Bionicle's themselves very much closely represent their LEGO set toy line counterparts.
