I purchased this unit as I wanted a heater which had more functionality and sensitivity than a standard run of the mill fan heater with mechanical thermostat. Overall I am rather disappointed for the following reasons:
The heater's thermostat works either for frost protection if the temperature falls below 5 degrees Celsius or at a minimum of 18 degrees C in heater mode. This means that if you have cold room that you want to maintain a temperature of above 5 and below 18 degrees C this cannot be achieved by this heater. This means using more electricity than required which is annoying. If you use a heater only when you're in the room then this probably won't be an issue for you, but to me it is a big failing of this heater that doesn't allow a full range thermostat selection.
When the heater is in thermostat mode the unit self selects the highest (2.2kw) heat setting. If you use the thermostat you cannot use the lower (1.1kw) setting - not a big problem but heaters costing a fifth of this one allow the operation to be thermostat controlled regardless of whether high or low heat setting is selected.
Don't be fooled into thinking this is programmable - it has a simple digital timer which can be set in 1 hour increments. When set the timer counts down (but you can't see the remaining time) and switches the unit off. You cannot use the timer to programme the unit to start at a particular time. Also when the timer is on the unit keeps turning itself off and then on every few minutes - this is annoying.
The digital thermostat does not seem especially accurate and I'd say it was no more precise than the mechanical thermostats we have on our other much cheaper heaters.
It is no quieter than other fan heaters I have.
Overall I've given this two stars because it doesn't really deliver to it's full potential and is very expensive next to the competition. Its one plus point is that it is fairly well made and looks much better than other fan heaters. If looks are important to you then there's nothing inherently wrong with this heater, but next to the £11.99 fan heater I recently purchased in LIDL(which performs just as well and also looks smart) this heater is vastly overpriced.
