Product Description
Agave syrup is sweeter than honey although it is generally a little less runny.
It is ideal for sweetening drinks, pouring on cereal and adding to baking.
As agave syrup has a lower Glycaemic Index than most other sweeteners it is the sweetener to choose in moderation if you are wanting to control your weight.

Saw this product advertised as an alternative to maple syrup and thought I'd give it a try. Lovely flavour. Seller is excellent - syrup delivered promptly. No problems - everything good.

I'm in 2 minds about this product. Touted as a healthy sweetener, the pundits ignore the fact that this is a processed product. It is VERY sweet and overweight people may be enticed into absorbing more sugar than is healthy. Ideally we could shift out taste buds to want less sweet stuff. The jury is out on the long term effects of a cactus based sweetener compared to other stuff. OK the glycemic index is lower, but the body doesn't need a lot of sugar in any form, so that is a side issue. I ended up with 2 different makes of Agave, one from here and another from the supermarket. It'll probably take me a century to get through them.
Protein Power Life Plan (Drs Eades) has an interesting and informative section on sweeteners and health. They seem very cautious about agave and less so about stevia.
