Product Description

This introductory text in biomechanics integrates basic anatomy, physics, calculus, and physiology for the study of human movement. Organized into three parts (Foundations of Human Movement, Functional Anatomy, and Mechanical Analysis of Human Movement), this text is considered to be a "higher" level biomechanics book as it can be used in both upper level undergraduate and graduate courses. NEW TO THIS EDITION: New coverage of physical activity and bone formation, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, factors influencing force and velocity development in the muscle, and the effect of training on muscle activation New and updated illustrations include applications from ergonomics, orthopedics, and exercise (supplemented with references from the current biomechanics literature)

Essential reading for all students of movement sciences 2 April 2000
By Jane Hall - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book provides essential information for the undergraduate student of movement science and will be of interest to physiotherapists, biomechanists and exercise specialists. It covers the musculoskeletal and neurological considerations for movement, functional anatomy and kinetic and kinematic analysis of human motion. The sections on functional anatomy are particularly helpful as they combine the regional anatomical facts with useful biomechanical information in a way that I have not seen before. The book is highly readable and the many diagrams and figures enhance the reader's understanding. All in all a book that is worth buying.

Biomechanical Basis of Human Movement 28 Feb 2011

The book is very in-depth and helpful. The practice questions at the end of each chapter are very helpful in order to know whether or not you truly understand the material. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking a Biomechanics class or even someone who just wants to learn more about the physics behind human movements.
