This is the best biology book I've ever read. And it goes on being the best biology reference I have in my library. I like several things about it. First, it's unbelievably well-written. That is, it really is clear as a whistle. To the point. Pertinent. And seemingly perfect. I have found no mistakes whatsoever. Biology, though a vast and really cool subject, is usually murdilized by people who write about it or teach it. Not so with Garber. Garber writes better than any biology writer I've ever read. And he explains all the subjects and topics in a nice readable flow that actually makes you want to read on. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. This guy obviously knows what he's writing about, and he knows how to say what the reader wants to know, the way the reader needs to hear it. My hat's off to Dr. Garber.

I hadnt done much Science since school but as i'd returnd to college this year i had a hunt for a handy book to recap and to leard new bits from to get me up to speed. I found this and its Chemistry counterpart a great combo.

I'd snooped around a few similar ones but found these to be the best, the clear layout and the self test are fab for anyone, whether a student revising(grear for all levels!) or a returner like me its handy book i'll be holding onto come test time!

This book was purchased when home educating my thirteen year old through year eight. As a self-teaching guide it does a wonderful job, material was nicely broken down and easy to digest and the self test elements of the book meant we were stopping and recounting each area as she covered it. This book would most definitely suit those home educating through late middle school or high school and adults wishing to refresh what they learnt in high school before returning to education in later life, for me it was good to refresh.
