Michael Roberts has an accessible and readable style. He explains the subject clearly and in language which makes the book understandable to readers at all ability levels. Best of all, he manages to communicate his own enthusiasm and understanding of his field.
The book contains sufficient detail to be an invaluable research resourse. It is not only suitable for use in school, but is also ideal for parents looking for a book which can be kept at home to support their children with research and with homework. It is also entirely suitable for adult readers simply looking for a clear and enjoyable general understanding of Biology.
Biology for Life is so clearly written that I have been able to use it to help my son towards the end of primary school and into secondary school, but the level of detail and explanation is sufficient to be a fantastic research resource even beyond GCSE level. It is entirely suitable for all GCSE, IGCSE and other Ordinary level examination preparation, and useful beyond age 16.
I used the first edition of this book in the 1980s when I was studying Biology at secondary school, and have recently been using this book to assist my son at home.
I would most strongly recommend this book to parents trying to support children at all senior school levels in studying biology. This is the perfect book to have at home. It has saved me and my son hours of wasted time trying to find reliable internet resources, and is my, and my son's favourite science book. It has contributed very significantly to his increasing love of Biology.
