I've found this book really useful to get to grips with general biology and basic chemistry. I've had trouble finding a book which explains enough of the chemistry basics to help with some of the more complicated biology and this was fantastic. The text was good and easy to read and understand and I'd strongly recommend this as great biology text and even greater for chemistry basics. I couldn't find any organic chemistry colouring books and the other chemistry books are either far too all-encompassing for biologists and organic chemistry books are very heavy going. A great learning tool whether you're a student or learning for fun!

I am taking a distance learning class in biology and thought this might help me remember some of the terminology and diagrams, but for some reason it just did not work. I found the pictures too small and the labels not helpful. The text for each picture is written in a teaching way, not a labeling way. Obviously, based on the other reviews, this works for some people. For me, I just wanted large labels and pictures as visual reminders.
