Accurate & broad introductory Text, with unique Australian focus 22 May 2010
By R. A. Lang - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This very thorough and very accurate textbook joins the very small number of
Australian-focused biology textbooks written at the first-year university level. The facts of biology are very different in the land "Down Under", as is well known to us Aussies; e.g. termites(!) are the primary grazers, Gum Tree flowers lack obvious petals, and the unique flora and fauna prompted Darwin to say that Australia must be a separate creation from the rest of the world!
This is not quite the best argued, best structured, and best written textbook on general biology, but each up-to-date chapter is written by an authority on the subject of that chapter, and this book serves as a solid basis for further university studies in biology. Furthermore, its Australian content is so broad and detailed that the book also serves as a one-volume encyclopedia of Australian nature!
