Product Description

Review
“The field of bioethics continues to evolve at a breakneck pace. One could hardly ask for a more thorough guide to where it has been, and what values and principles might steer where it is going, than this comprehensive and balanced volume.” Arthur Caplan, University of Pennsylvania<!––end––>

“This is an outstanding, up–to–date collection which covers all the main issues in bioethics and brings together much of the best philosophical work on them.” Dan W. Brock, Harvard Medical School

"A useful tool to gain an overview of important an influential texts and thinking of leading authors and commentators in bioethics." Human Reproduction and Genetic Ethics

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for all students of ethics, 19 Dec 2000
By david@thejacks.co.uk (Barrhead, Scotland) - See all my reviews
This is a superb anthology of writings from a number of individuals writing from a range of perspectives. The language of the essays is very accessible as are the explanations of the issues. The book covers a range of views including religious and medical views which allows students to compare and contrast responses to the issues. The beauty of this volume is that it can also save a lot of research because it covers most angles in most topics in this very difficult area. The book is a superb resource of A level Religious Studies students and Advanced Higher Religious, Moral and Philsophical Studies students in Scotland. It is also a very useful resource for RE teachers on both sides of the border because it gives current thinking on issues that are taught in secondary schools.

5.0 out of 5 stars really useful, 11 Sep 2006
I found this book to be really useful with my nursing ethics module, as it takes into consideration issues such as abortion, euthanasia (including newborn euthanasia), allocation of resources, organ donation etc. It also looks at nursing as an ethical issue. This book will come in handy for other modules, as this book addresses a lot of nursing issues, of which are likely to crop up at certain stages in my course. A very interesting read.
