I know things aren't built to last these days, but this product didn't work at all!! The ringer didn't ring. Telephoned Binatone helpline who implied the seller of the product may be a bit dodgy. Explaining that I bought it from a reputable seller (Amazon) didn't make any difference. Thankfully, the returns/refund service that Amazon offer is excellent.

I must be getting old, but trying to set numbers in the memory for my 86 year old grandmother was perhaps one of the most frustrating experiences with technology that I've ever had.
A bit of background to that is that I'm the MD of an IT company and I know how to program things - it's what I do. I also write training manuals for the software we produce and so I know some duff instructions when I see it.
Like the previous reviewer my gran could have got a duff model - which makes me think that we should take it back and get a refund. However I do wonder how a user who is partially sighted is supposed to set their own memory numbers - or get their 'geeky' grandson to do it for them!

We have a cordless telephone with several handsets for normal use and this telephone was purchased mainly for use in power failures. Our existing corded phone was pulse dialling only which was still good for making calls but it would not interact with the automatic response systems now used by most large firms.
It works well enough but I might have purchased something else had I known the following. There is a warning against using rechargeable batteries which I had intended to use in it. What happens if the warning is ignored I do not know. Another aspect is that it flashes a warning that a call has been missed and continues to flash it until the fact is acknowledged. It does not recognize that a call has been taken on one of the cordless handsets therefore it spends most of the time flashing.

no good for the elderly

NICE BIG PHONE.
CHEAP. EASY TO PLUG IN. NO SET UP NEEDED. NICE BIG PHONE WITH NICE BIG NUMBERS. SHOWS NUMBER RINGING AND WILL TAKE MESSAGES. PROBABLY DOES MORE BUT DELIGHTED.
